Have always enjoyed staying at the Copa , talked to John the owner in Canada yesterday and said the chica fee is 20.00 and 10% discount on rooms.He also mentioned there have been problems with girls drugging drinks and now keeps thier cedulas at the front desk and calls the room before they can leave which is a good thing.

Has anyone heard of drugging the drinks increasing in the last year ?

Next question can anyone recommend another hotel on the beach that is comparable to the Copa with a less chica fee and must have a safe.

The Cocal. No chica fees. Has a pool and restaurant and small casino. Pay a liitle bit more and get a room poolside or beachfront; its worth it. Oh yeah also in room safes.

We were going to stay at the Copa a few weeks ago, but changed our minds when we arrived to see the whole pool area undergoing remodeling. Didn't look like they were going to bend on the $20 chica fee either.

Ended up at the Canciones Del Mar in the two-bedroom suite, which worked out great. Chica fees a little more reasonable $15 - though it irked me to have to pay that when I kicked the girls out of the room half the time...
