might see a lot of these type of routes go away... I saw AA cancelled Chicago to Buenos Aires, if there is another way to get there, they will start to kill capacity...

You are on the plan a little over 18 hours. I was in Economy Deluxe which was really nice. Had a middle seat and could easily get out without making the person get up.

I took an ambien but my ass hurt so bad that I took a vicodin on top of that and off to dreamland I went.

That would drive me crazy(18 hours)! An alternative i found was to fly to Honolulu from Lax(5 hours) and the next day take a 10 hour flight(Hawaiian Airlines) to Manilla. That's about the only way that i could manage a trip to Asia.

Sorry to see this flight go away… It was a flight that was 95% full most of the time. This is the trend of the future… to many full flights that do not make money. I hope they don’t cut the LAX flight out. Looks like the next announcement is going to be a reduction to only 4-5 flights a week from LAX, instead of daily.

As for those of you who use a long flight as an excuse to not go to Asia… Weenies    .

I would take a long flight to Asia on an Asian airline any day over a 4-5 hour flight across the US in a US airline. The level of service, comfort, and cleanliness makes for a whole different experience. I actually enjoy the experience of the long flight… catch up on my sleep, get some reading done and the food is not bad…

That was going Paco. Sorry to disappoint you and your weird ass fetish.

Coming back is weird. We left Bangkok at 1:00 or 1:30 AM local time and landed in NY at 6:00 AM I think. The flight back was easier as I was exhausted after 16 days of serious partying and mongering.

The trip is worth it even if you go just once. There isn't words to describe Pattaya until you have seen it with your own eyes.

I agree with Mendowbrew and Spanky.

I also found it an odd sensation that I left Pattaya at 8:45PM on Saturday and was in ATL at 10:45 AM on Sunday.

The flight is NOT a lot of fun and I quite frankly was dreading it (15 hrs ATL to Seoul then 6 more to BKK) but let me tell you this, it wasn't intolerable.

I had AVOD (40 movies), TV comedies, games, news and music. I ate three times, had complimentary drinks (juice and water) about 5 times and dozed some. I am 54 and I have a bad shoulder. Towards the end it was starting to hurt so bad, I had to rest it on a pillow but I sucked it up.

It wasn't until I got back and saw commercials that I remembered that I had watched (dozed through) both "Lions for Lambs" and "Micheal Clayton". Both were pretty sloooooowwwwwww but Stilnox (OTC in San Jose) will do that to you. The same stuff that killed Heath Ledger. I only took 1.

I figured it like this, if men and women can fly to Iraq I can fly to BKK. A much better destination to be sure. Once you go you'll know why it's all worth it. That's why I'm going back this fall even if I don't have a job to come back to.

They are actually cancelling LAX to Bangkok within a year as well. They aren't hedged enough to make money on the flights, simply can't do it. Cathay from JFK is actually a much longer flight, because it stops in Vancvouer and then you have to switch planes in HK, the time adds up, but not a bad flight. For Brazil flights, Continental is by far the best, much much much better than TAM, which is better than AA. But those flights won't stop yet, because Sao Paolo is only 90 minutes longer from NYC than Miami. The long flights going away scares me a bit.

Of Cathays 3 flights a day, only 1 stops in Vancouver. The rest are 777-200/300 and fly right to Hong Kong.

I usually grab the 10:10am flight, spend about 3 hours in the lounge at HK, and land in Manila at 6pm. Gets me to AC by 8pm.
