Post subject:  NEW TACA FARE STRUCTURE

I was just checking the TACA website for an October trip. It appears they have a new FARE PRICING SCHEDULE with 6 levels of fares for each flight. Every day in October, the PROMO level fare from WASH/DULLES to SJO is only $341. Good flight times and schedules. That's pretty hard to beat. 8) At the high end level for the same flight, which they call the ELITE level, the fare is about $1600.

Looks like I'll be flying TACA this October. :)

Nothing really changed, except that they created more fare classes. And the first two (Promo and Access), are not eligible for upgrades for frequent flyers.

So, in order to be eligible for an upgrade (NOT guaranteed either), one would have to buy a ticket in the 3rd fare class (Benefit). The ticket price JFK-SJO is $700-800.

And, if you don't mind the occasional runway crash...

Man that's some serious skill of the pilots to limit the KIAs to only 3 so far!

Could of been much worse, think Brasil recently where all perished taking off from a small runway crowded around by population.

I would hardly call it skill when a pilot overshoots a runway by 200 meters.
More like good architectural design and engineering

The pilot is the ONLY person to blame, and it is solely his fault 3 people died.

The NTSB needs to hire you guys. To be able to determine the cause of an Aviation Accident in a few hours just by reading internet reports is a rare talent

What saved almost everyone from this accident was somehow the jet fuel did not ignite.

Its simple. Its the pilots job to ensure the safety of his passengers. Im sure I could land a plane 200 meters past the runway as well.

Its a landing, your in constant voice contact with the tower. If their was an error, say faulty landing gear, or a blown tire, the tower would have very likely heard it.

I'm cashing all my taca miles in... Their new policies SUCK. Especially for someone who has flown them diligently, and has been a good customer... They're phuking themselves in the foot...
