I'm trying to make a last minute trip over Memorial Day Weekend, and of course many hotels are booked. I stayed at SL on my last trip 2 years ago and would like to stay somewhere close by. Any suggestions?

Castillo, Amistad all though both might also be booked at this late date.

You can also try the Hemingway, next door to the Gardens restaurant/bar at the ground floor of the Castillo. It is cheap and decent. I paid $30 cash per night. Includes breakfast. I never brought a chica back, but I believe they are chica tolerant. Everytime I passed by the place, there was a banner out front advertising "VACANCY."

Also try Hotel Don Carlos - across the street from Hemingway. I don't know about the chica policy there, but a quick search should answer that.

Hotel Don Carlos is chica *hostile*. Mongers, stay away.

Don't forget the Dunn Inn (chica tolerant) and the Clarion Amon Plaza. Not exactly "close" to the SL, but at least in the same barrio. :D The Clarion offers a CRT VIP discount through the casino, I believe... I imagine Casa Vino is booked, as probably is the Zona Blew. .
