MLV- it's not for all days (AA). So if time off is at a premium you will sometimes pay more from MIA and FLL to avoid missing part of the workweek. But then Spirit runs some wicked sale.

But it is nice being down here. :D

Guys,

I wish someone who knows a lot more about the marketplace than I, could tell me why it costs $650-800 to get to CR from Philadelphia, and posters in Chicago and the West Coast, which are a hell of a lot farther from CR than Philly are talking about $400-$500 airfares?

Cd,

Fares from the Baltimore-Washington area are in the $400 to $500 range right now, sometimes even less. A lot has to do with when you search for a fare and how often. I check TRAVELOCITY and KAYAK several times a day. Sometimes a sale will last only a few hours. I have also found that the best fares tend to be within the one to two month range prior to the your actual travel date. It takes persistence to snag the good priced fare.

I don't understand the way airlines price things either. For example, round trip from Minneapolis to SJO is roughly $600 on Continental (well, it was before these bogus fuel surcharges) while round trip from houston is $500. It's almost the same distrance from MPLS to houston as it is from houston to SJO.

Just checked on my American Airlines flight out of FLL for May 15 - 18 and its down approx $50.00 now at $208.00 now. The flight has less than 30 going and returning. Might even get cheaper.

Lately closer to $600 unless you're willing to have 2 stops with up to a 12 hr layover enroute.

If you can get to LA it is under $450 for a direct on Taca. I had to settle for one of the combo deals on Orbitz. US Airways going to SJO with a 4 hour layover in Charlotte. Going back on Mexicana with a 4 hour layover in Mexico City. Then straight back to Vegas from there. At $460 and still getting me home in time for work on Monday night, I will take it.

I actually am quite jealous of you guys. For awhile I drove a truck route coast to coast LA to Jacksonville, FL . Florida is truly the most beautiful state I have ever seen.I hope to get based there someday, hopefully in Orlando or Miami. I have visions of long weekends in CR or Dominican Republic.

Hi, Sometime it is better to be lucky than good. I booked a flight out of Ft. Lauderdale to San Jose leaving Friday at 3:00 PM returning Monday (Memorial Day weekend) at 9:55 PM for $208 taxes included.

Now I need to find a hotel. Any suggestions. I will continue to surf this site. Seems like some good info here to plan a trip.

I live in Miami but will be working that week in Ft Lauderdale so this is very convenient.
