I was just searching for my first trip to Thailand, and one of the more economical flights was on Ethiopian Airlines. Anyone ever hear of them or have experience??? |

That's a novel airline if you are flying from the US, I hope that means you found the fare as a codeshare or else you will be flying Dulles - Rome - Addis Ababa - Bangkok. |

i have moved to nigeria recently and i travel to east africa alot as well as to india and dubai.....i was using emirates but i have been downgraded kicked off the flight too many times....so about two weeks ago enroute to the china fair i went to bangkok on ethiopian...i was on bussiness class and there are no complaints no delays seats were as comfortable as one can expect paying 800-900 dollars less than emirates...... however i went on ethiopian economy once to india and let me tell you it was a nightmare....flight was delayed in addis overnight so they gave us hotel rooms to share with other passengers i ended up paying for my own room....there was a pilgramge to mecca on my flight and there was nearly a riot at the airport it was a total disaster where no one knew what was going on..... it will be an adventure and if u are delayed in addis good luck mate!! |

I heard the seats are half the size of normal seats. |

Ive searched the cheapest fares day and night, and I have not once seen Ethiopia come up as the cheapest. Pending where you live, Cathay, EVA, China, or Korean will almost 100% sure be the cheapest. |

I read that many of these smaller airlines (mostly in Africa and Asia) buy up all the OLD planes that US carriers have leased for like 20-30 years. Has anybody heard of this? If so, I don't think I'd want to be flying on a Boeing built in the 70's. ![]() |

Most of the "small" airlines Ive flown in Asia have very new planes, much newer then you would find anywhere here. But I have seen some of the random domestic airlines, and Id put some of their planes on the older side of things. Probably a strong case of you get what you pay for |

Pending where you live, Cathay, EVA, China, or Korean will almost 100% sure be the cheapest. Historically, Cathay Pacific and Eva have been the cheapest, for me. However, the last two trips were on Thai Airways, and they were the cheapest that I found. The best thing is the Thai flights are direct LAX-BKK-LAX. Awesome! late night departure and early morning arrival. You can easily be somewhere else, like Pattaya, Chaing Mai, Samui or Phuket by afternoon. |
