How is the Balmoral Hotel? Their website seems a little too nice for mongering. Any info would be appreciated. |

Not great for mongers with their 20.00 guest fee. |

Thanks Paco. I'm not so concerned with the fee. I just would prefer there not be a family with K*ds in the lobby when I bring my chica back for a session. |

RealJo wrote: Thanks Paco. I'm not so concerned with the fee. I just would prefer there not be a family with K*ds in the lobby when I bring my chica back for a session. Ahh, the so called "Walk of Shame"! I wouldn't worry so much about the K*ds who probably can't put 2 and 2 together and figure out why that provocatively dressed young latina is checking into the hotel with her old gringo uncle. The father and if any of the K*ds are teenaged boys will probably figure it out and will be secretly envious. It is the mother and perhaps any teenage daughters that would be the real issue. The daughters would think "eeuww, look at that girl not much older than me going with that disgusting looking old guy, I would never do that." And the mothers would be thinking "damn, look at that little hussy and that perverted man, my hubby better not get any ideas". If you can't deal with the possibility of a few disapproving stares then you should stay at a hotel more completely geared to mongers such as the HDR, Morazon, SL or even the Castillo. Personally, I would say "Get over it". You aren't doing anything that you don't have a right to. If someone else has a problem with it then that is THEIR problem. OTOH, our little hobby is already under intense enough scrutiny by those who disapprove of it. There is no reason to bring any more attention to it that is absolutely unavoidable. This means not walking down the street in the middle of the day with a chica engaged in blatant PDA's (public displays of affection) or walking into a mixed purpose hotel doing the same thing. Ideally, if you DO stay at a mixed purpose hotel like the Balmoral, you confine your bringing chicas back to later at night after most of the eco-tourist have gone to bed. And, if you do bring chicas back during earlier hours (or leave with them the next morning after a TLN), you do so with as much discretion as possible. Even better would be to stay at a place where you basically don't have to think about such things at all, where you can come and go as you please and how you please and where those who don't approve of our little hobby don't have to be confronted with it.
In answer to your question, if such things REALLY bother you then I would stay elsewhere. |

It can happen anyplace with all the tourists in CR these days. Last trip I met up with some guys at the SL and there was this well dressed, clean cut small group in the bar area having lunch and going over some books and paperwork. My guess is they were on a mission trip or something and how they ended up in the SL I have no idea, not sure if they were guests or just there for lunch. They obviously looked out of place and were rolling their eyes as one guy sealed a deal with a chica at the bar and they walked by holding hands towards his room. Then their food came and they all prayed before eating which is fine but I couldn't figure out why they were there when it was obvious they knew what was going on around them and disapproved. Maybe they booked rooms there unknowingly. The Pres. can be the same way at times but you can avoid most of the "looks" by avoiding the early evening & morning crowd like Prolijo stated. A search for Balmoral will bring up info, guys do stay there occasionally if everyplace else is booked. If chica fees don't bother you then the Sleep Inn (25.00 fee) is a much nicer, new hotel. |

Thanks to both of you. This info was exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to be in SJ May 21 - 25. Unfortunately I have waiting too late to make my hotel stay. I was able to secure the Presidente for the 21st and 22nd, but I'm still homeless for 23 and 24. SL, HDR and Presidente are totally booked. Based on Prolijo, I may try the Castillo (but it's probably booked too). My list (in oreder of preference) was: 1 Castillo 2 Morazon 3 La Amistad But now Paco, you bring up a good point - Sleep Inn. I had always thought that that place was pretty unfriendly to the chica seen. Is that the case. If they are chica friendly and I can get in, I'd prefer it. If anyone cares to chime in on my ordered list. Let me know if I'm headed for a dumpy, unfriendly place. Thanks again you guys. |

QUOTE: "...Sleep Inn. I had always thought that place was pretty unfriendly to the chica scene." A $25 chica fee would be considered "unfriendly to the chica scene." ![]() You'll like the Castillo if you can get a reservation there. ![]() |

RealJo, I stayed at the Sleep Inn for a total of five nights back in February on my long trip. I didn't bring any chicas back, since I was spending most of my time at ZB, but I saw several guys with chicas while there. I wouldn't mind paying the fee, since it is a real nice place, just like a new Sleep Inn would be in the US but with a full breakfast buffet. It also has an elevator. |
