I suppose everybody heard that Frontier filed bankruptcy. Too bad.....they're a good airline with a direct flight out of Denver to SJO. They say they will continue with their operations, working under bankruptcy. I hope so...my friend just bought a ticket on Frontier for a July trip to Costa Rica. ![]() Zebra |

I think they are going to be okay. From the news, the company that handles their cc transactions tried to jack their rates effective April 14. By filing bankruptcy, Frontier keeps the rate increase from going into effect until they can find another company to handle their credit purchases or they reach a new agreement. Their net worth is estimated at around $100m and their debt is around $500+m so they are not exactly in great shape but I don't think we have seen the last of them. |

That really sucks. I was looking at Frontier for my next trip since they had both the best price I've seen recently, as well as the shortest overall travel time. The only thing I didn't like was their flight from SJO to DEN leaves at 6:30 am. I'd still fly with them but I don't see buying the tickets very far in advance. |

I would not get to excited or worried. Most major airlines such as United, Delta, Northwest, US Air have made a trip or two to bankruptcy court and they are still flying. |

Prior to the filing, Frontier usually showed up on the various fare searches. The last day or so I don't find them anymore. I even tried several dates on the Frontier website itself with no luck (even searching DEN-SJO). Are they still flying to Costa Rica? |

Last time I was in denver, about 3 weeks ago, they still said they were doing that flight... I will check on Monday, as I'll be back in Denver, and update you about the Frontier wowes... |

I just pulled up the FRONTIER website. I entered my friend's dates for July......the flight was available, and at the same price he paid. The website stated, that although they have filed bankruptcy.....it's business as usual. ![]() |

They are still flying and I am on a Frequent Flier ticket for Memorial Day and another FF ticket in August. Consistently, the flights run way full and seem to fill-up well in advance of departure. I really do believe they will emerge, just fine, but figured it wise to start using my FF miles before they reduce the number of seats available. They might look a bit different, but I believe they desire to emerge in better shape. The one thing I can tell you is that the Denver-Metro community appreciates Frontier's existence and am certain that some taxpayer assistance will be available (i.e. low cost financing) to help them remain in business after they emerge. |

I did read soewhere a month or two ago that they will suspend that flight during the low season. I think it was like Sept-Dec, then resume during the busy season. I live in S FL so that doesn't concern me, but I have a friend that lives in Salt Lake that was looking to make a trip next Fall. It doesn't look like they will be an option at that time. Wait and see I guess. |

Any idea where you read this? I was looking to book a trip around Thanksgiving and am not getting any availability. Will call the airline when the wait is not 30 minutes, like it is today, to get more info. But I tried numerous dates from September thru December and struck-out on all dates. But did find availability, again, in Jan 2009. I did not read anywhere that they were going to suspend the service. Everytime I am on a flight, they are full and booking a few weeks ahead of time yields no seats avail. It's a mystery |

Thanks, I have already searched and not found the information that clarifies my question. Unfortunately, there is no official information on the Frontier website that even hints of seasonal service (to anywhere but Mexico) or a discontinuation of SJO service due to the bankruptcy proceedings. I have sent an email to Frontier Early Returns seeking clarification. When I get an answer back, I will post their reply. |

![]() https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/vi ... hp?t=20535 Thanks....Amazing that Frontier does not list the service as seasonal anywhere on their website. I have asked them directly for clarification. |

Even back in February when I flew them to SJO, the counter stated that the revenues from the trip had been disappointing. I countered with the fack that no advertising had been done like that for the Mex. flights. Send Flip in, I said. Perhaps a CRT discount opportunity. OFFICIAL Carrier |
