I am trying to decide on a one night stay at either the Del Rey or the Presidente. The Presidente looks alot nicer, but the Del Rey is the center of it all. Question- How clean are the rooms at the Del Rey? I don't want to be sleeping on all of your DNA, if you know what I mean.

While the DR is nothing but a mongering hotel, don't think that the eco-tourists aren't getting their freak on at the Presidente along with the mongers that still stay there.

They have maids that clean the rooms daily. This does not mean that the comforter gets removed and clean daily. So your best bet is to remove it.

The Presoidente is super clean, but even there we encountered a cockroach the size of my thumb in our 6th floor room Some problems are unavoidable, considering the lattitude of Costa Rica.

I have never stayed at the HDR, but friends who frequently stay there say it's clean but kind of like a Super 8 or Motel 6 in quality..

YO Pilgrim:

Do the Circus thing.

Do not sleep on any beds that have been phucked in.

Take the spread and blanket off and throw them in the street....those micros need to go outside occasionally.

Wear nylon hose and socks along with flip-flops when walking on the room carpet, bath or shower floor.....that is after pouring a gallon of disinfect on the bath floor and shower.

Be sure to wipe off the lavatory and shower faucets/ heads with "handi-wipe" being ole circus could have jacked off on them.

Could be a problema with the room phone also....really wipe that off.

Don't get upset if you have red blotches or scales on your skin after several days in CR......it's a moving experience.

Last but not least.....place a condom on your pecker and wear long johns f you just have to sleep on those nasty sheets.....especially if you reside on the 3rd floor of the Presidente where two notorious hombres, Pacoloco and L-Heat leave bodily fluids. Check with the desk clerk about this floor.

DelRey......God help you.

I hoope this helps.

 Damn Circus, where you been?
P-head if you're afraid of a little strange DNA then your heading to the wrong place. By all means get room 317 if you can, the comforter is usually a little crusty but if those sticky walls could talk! :D LH has a habit of yanking off his condom and throwing it across the room right before releasing in the poor chica's hair so better wipe down the TV, mirror, doorknobs, chairs and window too. The gay convention booked the whole 3rd floor last year so any of those rooms will probably give a germaphobe nightmares. :P

Pothead:

I cannot help you much with the Hotel President. The last time I stayed there was eight years ago. Once Pacoloco started staying there I boycotted the place. Even I have standards. I am a frequent visitor to the Hotel Del Rey and am comfortable with how the rooms are maintained. You get fresh lemon every day. Although you must ask to have the sheets changed daily. I have been told that the bedspreads or washed weekly and the draperies monthly. The rooms are usually cleaned each morning by about 12 noon. Make friends with your housekeeper ( yes we're talking money ) and she'll freshen your room up before she leaves for the day about five o'clock. These are not spectacular rooms but they are comfortable with good functioning bathrooms. As long as you're off the second floor especially towards the back they are quiet. Although aggravating noise from next door is frequent but can be eliminated with a call to the desk.
