Looking to make my maiden voyage but I am having trouble finding cheaper airfare from the NY area. What am I missing? Why is airfare so expensive? I am consistently seeing airfare +/- $600. Does it get cheaper? Where should I be looking? |

From NY (JFK), use Taca Airlines. I use them exclusively. You may see Lacsa on the website, but it's the same airline. They are cheaper and more reliable than most airlines. www.taca.com |

Dude... You need help. Continental has a non stop our of ewr to sjo. I just plugged in april 2nd through 9th. It comes back at $329. Total is $390 after taxes. If you search the interent you can find a 5% off promotion code. I prefer continental for the non-stop and the onepass miles. Hit 25K in one year you stand a chance of getting bumped up to first class on sjo trips. American Airlines was running trips in the $200 last I looked, but I dislike AA. EWR is also a continental hub. I seriously hope you read this forum heavily. If you don't know how to shop for airfare, you are going to struggle more with negotation with the chicas. Rule one... say no to cien ($100). Start at $50, work your way up to at most $70. Walk away if she goes to high. Believe me, there are more out there. And I promise you, once you commit to one, you are going to see something better on the way. Also, keep in mind, fishing is like shoping for a used car. 99 times out of a 100, what is under the hood is not what you see. The odometer on these ticas have been flipped more than once. I have mentioned in other posts... I once grabbed what I thought was a perfect size 4 from the bar, after unwrapping my prize it turned into a size 8 or 10. These chicas wear their close tight, holding in god knows what. regards, Dick Slapp |

Thanks Dick. I'm an experienced monger and have read extensively about negotiiating and trip reports. Just starting to figure out where to stay and how to get there. The problem is that I'm looking for mainly extended weekends and those fares seem to be a bit higher than weeklong trips. |

Chato- if you look around and play with times, I am confident you will find a reasonable fare for an extended weekend. Even from the tri-state. Most importantly, enjoy your trip. ![]() |
