I just got back from another excellent trip at Hotel Zona Blue. For me, it’s the perfect place for a great getaway weekend.

The rooms are spacious and can be made into your own little bachelor pad. The ipod stations, large TV and DVD player, decent Wi-Fi (which enables me to fool my Boss that I’m at work in the States), large bath room and sauna al help to create a nice atmosphere. I’ve learned to stop at the airport duty free to stock my bar with Bailey’s, Rum, Tequilla, etc. With 20 plus chicas available downstairs, a good casino a block away and just a short taxi ride to most anywhere in SJ, it’s the place for me.

But more than just the amenities, it’s the intangibles that set ZB apart. A real sense of security and looking out for their guests. A recent example was last Saturday when I lost my wallet in a taxi. Not a big deal (just @ $40-$50) but both my cc and debit card were in the wallet as well, meaning I had no access to cash. A real rookie mistake (and from a city dweller no less).

While I was a bit bummed, I knew I was okay since I was staying at ZB. Eduardo allowed me unlimited use of the phone to the US and then was able to provide me with $200 cash advance against my cc (thankfully he had a record of my MC number, etc) prior to my cancelling the card. Between that and the cash I had in the room, I had no problems with $$ for the last two days of my trip. In fact, keeping to a budget kept me out of the casino which was probably a very good thing.

Again, not sure what would have happened if I was staying at another place; at Hotel ZB they got my back. Just further evidence that ZB is the best place in CR for the "sporting gentlemen."

Pura Vida,
Lance

Not to be a jerk, but if you were staying anywhere they could have had you a new credit card in 24 hours :)

No offense taken. I actually realized I was missing the wallet @ 7pm Saturday. Probably wouldn't have been to get anything to me by Monday afternoon (which was my departure time). Actually, in the past the cc company has offered to FedEx me a replacement, but not this time. Plus my bank made me go into a branch to order a new card which will take 7 business days to get to me. They used to just give you a replacement on the spot.

I learned a few lessons. One of which is to carry either a cc or debit, not both. Keep one in the room as a backup.
