Hey all, I'm a regular visitor at the Castillo but heard the Garden restaurant and El Rancho were closed for a bit. Wondering if they are back in operation?

The Gardens reopened as Las Palmas but not the same Las Palmas that was in that location before. This one serves Peruvian food.

I was was told they used to allow chicas in the restaurant next to the Castillo. I was at the Castillo 2 months ago and they sure don't anymore. Everytime I walked in a guy was follwing me around as if to say, "If you are looking for chicas we don't want you here." I was staring at a couple of beautiful women who were eating there, and he got in my face and said "What are you looking for sir?"

"Used to" is correct. Back when it was the Gardens they did allow unescorted chicas in. With the new management and name change came new policies. No more chicas. The place is muy tranquillo. See the recent thread for Las Palmas.

When I was staying at the Castillo in Oct the Las Palmas was offering a 15% discount to Castillo guests. I don't know if that is still in effect. Also, I didn't ask if they still honored the old CRT 10% discount. I tend to think that the old discount is history like the old Gardens name.

What happend to Tom the former owner of the Garden? The guy who was kidnapped by Colombians and escaped.

Does he still reside in Costa Rica?
