Am planning my 6th trip to Costa Rica.

Am in San Antonio and have always flown either Continental or American.

In doing homework, I can save around $200 by going on Mexicana.

I would like to know if anyone has had any bad experiences with Mexicana or in their layover at the airport in Mexico City?

I will probably have to hang for a few hours, but can bring along toys to keep entertained.

Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks,

SF

each time i've flown thru mexico city i had good luck. maybe 4 different times. and if you did have any bad luck, most of the info areas speak english, and you would have enough saved capital for 10 half hour sessions at nf to relieve any stress....

I don't like Mexicana. Legroom, customer service and on time performance have been below average for me. One time when I had a 30 minute connection in Mexico City to an American flight, they wouldn't let me carry on my small (under 22") bag, and they wouldn't check it to Dallas either. When we left the overhead bins were half empty. So I have to wait to pick up my luggage, then run to American, who still got me on the flight by having an agent personally escort me from the ticket counter to the gate. But what do I know, I'm full of BS.

Ya... flew 'ol Mex from LAX to Cabo many years ago. When I got on the plane, it was in the condition you'd expect to find a WW11 surplus bomber in...rode hard and put up wet. It was so worn out I had a serious anxiety attack about it's air worthyness and almost got up and walked off.
But I found that a series of adult beverages (straight up) helped greatly to fortify my courage.
