Post subject:  Low Cost Traveling From CR to the rest of LA
Hi guys,

I wanted to know if there are any discount airlines that fly from Costa Rica to Panama, Colombia, and other Central/South American Countries. I checked online, and the best I found for a ticket from SJO to Colombia was $400 ! That is only $200 less than if I was flying from Chicago. Any help would be appreciated.

sorry that is the best deal you are going to get. I have researched this ad naseaum flying from CR to LA is expensive because those airlines flying those routes have a lock on the market.... doesnt make sense huh. Sometimes its cheaper to fly back to Miami and then Colombia rather than flying direct from SJO doesnt make sense does it?

I figured as much, though. It is a shame. I am planning a trip to Thailand soon and discovered all of these discount airlines that one can use to fly almost anywhere within Southeast Asia (at least anywhere mongers want to go) for less than $100 round trip. I was hoping Latin America would have something like that as well, but then again, that would make too much sense.

The crazy thing is the Asian ones have EXTREME competition. Ive flown numerous times for fares like 9.99MYR or 100baht or 300peso or something. Makes getting around awesome. The connections suck, and sometimes you wonder why your going through all the effort just to save a couple bucks, but in the end its part of the experience for me.
