I talked to my boss today and decided I could make a trip down for a couple weeks. My standard deal is to hit the online discount sites and finded the lowest price and then go on the airline site and buy it and earn the few extra miles for booking on line. Gave a window between Dec 24 & Jan 14. Got a price of $396.42 on Expedia and $402 on Orbitz flying Continental. I then went to Continentals site and there price was $412.40. Clearly at least $10 dollars higher, so I qualified for the price difference plus $100 credit on a future flight. Exact flight numbers and dates. I followed all their rules and called the required 800 number and got an immediate answer. She took my info and put me on hold. Came back a few minutes later and said she checked both their sites and they were higher than Continental. In short, their guarentee is bogus. Good news is ; I ain't gonna let it ruin my trip. I will email them and bitch tho and see if they throw me a few crumbs. See you boys for new years. PS: Vegas Bob, I fully intend to pay up on our bet. Big, Thick Juicey Steak. |

This probably doesn't help too much nowadays since anything can be altered. Most keyboards come with a "Print Screen" button. You can hit that and then paste the image into an image editor. Then save the jpg files and email them. Try to have a clock and the two websites in your image. You never know, the person you where talking with could just be an idiot. |

I've successfully had my fare lowered and received the $100 voucher 3 times with Continental's low fare guarantee. However, the 3rd time was problematic as the operator insisted she couldn't find the lower fare. After going back and forth, I realized she heard the dates wrong, when corrected everthing worked out fine. Did you try to recreate the price on Orbitz or Expedia yourself? Yes it won't help much as screen captures are not controlling with Continental, in fact they are expressly excluded: From Continental.com: Quote: Continental Airlines must be able to verify the lower online fare online at the time of claim. Other methods of verification (e.g., fax, screen prints) are not eligible.
An analysis of different airlines low fare guarantees 3 months ago by Farecompare.com found Continental at the "top of the pack". The entire article is linked below: http://traveltips.farecompare.com/2007/09/07/refunds-whos-the-best-when-youre-due-a-refund/ |
