Post subject: | Hotel Tangeri review by QBF |
The hotel Tangeri is in Jaco, and so far the only hotel I have stayed at in Jaco. This hotel has a pretty good location, and a very pleasant atmosphere. The rooms a little rustic, but no more so than MOST seaside hotels. The hotel is right on the beach, and is bordered by a river which empties out into the ocean. This particularly makes for a very pleasant beach situation. If you're with your girl and her K*ds, the K*ds can play in the river, which has rather slow moving water, while you go and swim in the waves... There is also quite a bit of pleasant walking that can be done from the beach. This hotel also sports 3 swimming pools - 1 of which is a wading pool, at about 1.5 ft deep. The other two are very plesant to swim in, if a little too small for my taste. There is also a rather sparce, but useable playground for the K*ds to play in. Caution!!! This place is OVERRUN with lizards, mostly Iguanas, who have no fear of us. I personally like them, so they didn't bother me, but my girl was terrified... There are also several "Jesus Lizards", which if you feel like being slightly cruel, you can chase into the pools, and watch them run across the water... It's worth going to the hotel just for that, in my opinion... The grounds of the hotel are very pleasant, and their bar/restaurant is supposed to sport some very good food, although they were closed when we were there, as it was VERY low season... The hotel charged us about $70 or $80 for 4 people for the night (2 adults & 2 Ch*ldren). We had a very pleasant 2 bed room, and a patio/porch all to ourselves. There is also a "breakfast included" rate that was VERY reasonable, but since the K*ds got up and ate breakfast usually before the hotel's breakfast started, and I tend to skip that "all important" meal, we opted for skipping the included breakfast, and just bought food to put into the room's refrigerator. The wirless internet in the hotel worked flawlessly, and allowed me to make MANY skype calls without issue. The hotel staff was very pleasant, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome there. If I was ever to go back to Jaco, which I can't imagine doing until they have the freakin' highway there, I would definitely stay there again. qbf |

QBF- Do your friend's K*ds a favor and don't let them swim in the river. If you ever get a chance, walk back up the river, across the main road, and I'll bet that you will be unpleasantly surprised at what you see going in this river. They have great pools for the kids---keep them out of the polluted river. Also, there is a new, one year old policy, no short term guests,ie., whores. If you check in with one, that's different. The Tangeri has been one of my favorites for years, however, I passed on staying there last week because of the construction noise next door of Daystar's Rape of Jaco project |

Didn't swim there, as they don't swim, but now that I know, I won't recommend it... Thanks for the heads up! |
