ok guys you know my reputation and seen my posts. I have a big problem right now, I really need honest opinions. My best friend and I have booked this trip and he has clients at his club who decided to go also. They are talking bad shit about ZB and have my friend convinced that it is the worst place to stay and trannys everywhere and because they close so early. We have rooms booked at ZB and DR just because.........This guy talked so much shit last night he almost got knocked out in my buddies club. I do not think I will have a good time with him, I prefer my friend and myself. So this guy lets name Eddie, says that he has a car rented to take us from SJ to Jaco on sunday instead of monday.....Now we have ZB booked Sat/Sun to mon. DR booked all 4 days. He says he has been going there 10 years and never had a problem. He looks mexican but doesn't speak it. I do speak some spanish but not enough to hold a conversation. Our plan was to Fly by helo or plane to jaco or payyas to go fishing on one of Mucho Gusto recommendations. This guy says he has this guy named David Espanoza from Spanish fly fishing charter booked and he is one of the best in CR??? I am trying to be repectful to Eddie, but I have been reading this forum for a very long time, and he told me that he didnt give a Phuck about our forum and that the women from CR posts to get business. Believe me I used great restraint from knocking him out. Another friend of mine went to him and advised him he needed a seat. I may consider cancelling my part of this trip all together cause i don't feel like being on vacation with jackasses. My friend and I have been close buds for many years but these guys are the ones who finally talked him into taking a trip. Without us asking he booked also to tag along and to somewhat be our tour guide. What is your advice?

There aren't trannies near ZB. Its a busy street but after 9 it becomes pretty quiet and I would definately not walk around after dark. During the day the street is full of people from working to K*ds in school. ZB closes at 9 so after that you will have to go to the DR or something anyway. The road to Jaco is really bad and anyone considering driving it better know what they are doing. If this guy bothers you tell your best friend that you don't want to be around someone like that during vacation. The worst thing in the world is to have a know it all that gets on your nerves around you when you are in SJO.

The only real question here is; do you want this friendship to end before, during or after the trip? It seems like your friend isn't all that good of a friend or he would lean more on you for guidance then on this other A-hole. I say, look out for yourself and your own interest and invite your friend along for the ride. Otherwise...prepare for disaster.

well, to be totally fair, it IS true there are one or two trannies that hang on that corner around ZB -- but they've never bothered me, and I've stayed at ZB and walked down to the clarion a few times.

I haven't visited every MP in san jose (willing to try) but in my experience ZB is by far the most comfortable. I've run into one or two guys that absolutely hate it, but I suspect they might have been punted for rudeness or some such in times past. People tend to pick ZB NF or BI as their favs, and all are good, but I've noticed some partisanship. At ZB you've got a good bar, a solid CRT presence, and an owner who understands us. Since this is your first trip, you'll just have to decide for yourself.

As I've said, I've stayed at ZB and would do it again -- at least with a wingman to share (I need to keep my hotel budget under $100/night this time). If you ever have trouble with a cab, just tell them to take you to the clarion and walk a block. That's my plan with hotelM -- I understand it's a block from the mall, so...

As for the interpersonal shit, if you're already uncomfortable ahead of the trip, you can connect the dots for during. You are about to experience the closest thing to disneyland on earth for american men. 3 hours from the states, and everything available. You'll find some replacements (as we discussed offline, maybe me) for the trip to Jaco. If there's one thing I expect someone to back me up on shortly, is once you land at SJO, throw your plans out the window.

People populate this board for a lot of reasons. Some are horny married guys trying to get through the doldrums. Some are near-retirement guys, not ready to hang it up at a sun city and looking for alternatives. Some are indiana-jones pussy-huners/investors. Some are divorced guys looking for the unicorn. Some are... well you get the picture. The one thing that *is* true is that (with a handful of exceptions) nobody here is going to give you bad advice or steer you wrong. I decided to up to lifetime just based on some freindships I've made and the amount of time I find myself coming back in between trips. Next trip may be my last -- who knows (ok, last in a while). Trust the board.

I would talk to my buddy then let him decide. You have your own room and know what you like. If he decides to follow the other friend then just go it alone. I have been mongering alone for 8 years. I have always found like minded guys at the SL and other similar bars at other mongering cities. You are too concerned about this. Let the chips fall but make sure you do what you are comfortable with. Relax and enjoy. If you or anyone have a bad time in Costa Rica well it is your own fault. Make sure your friend knows what you want to do and just politely make it clear you are going to have fun and what your plans are.

By the way. The opinionated guy has a little truth to what he says. If you walk up the hill from ZB the next major intersection sometimes has trannies on the corner. But that has no impact on ZB being the best MP in SJO.

I have read a lot of your posts and I don't think you are the type of person to be a pu*sy in a social situation so boot that Phucker before he ruins your trip.

I like to travel alone; I don't like to talk to people on the plane and I don't want a lot of if any socializing with men when I travel either. When I go to SJ to Phuck that is what I want to do and I don't get much into touristy stuff. I don't make a good travel partner. I have turned down many offers to travel with friends just because I don't like it.

There is no way I would take a vacation with someone I don't like. If I were you I would tell my friend that either he uninvites his friend (or allow you to) or let him have the room at the DR and you take the room at ZB, book different seats on the plane if not different flights and just phuck youself silly in ZB.

Actually I have seen Trannies near ZB - be carefull anywhere in SJO at night.

Lose the loser and cut your losses now. Better to walk away now and salvage the rest of your trip than try to stick it out and see the situation escalate to a real problem around you.

with a newbie and staying until Dec. 3. We will be around the
SL in the morning and I plan on doing happy hour at the BM
around 4 or 5 in the evening. I will be the tall heavy set guy wearing

It sounds like this senario could end up really badly. It's time to cut your losses.I woul tell your real "friend" that your idea of having a good time seems to conflict with the "expert's idea" and you'd prefer to go with him alone or wait for another opportunity when the two of you can go on a trip. If not,make your "I'm sick routine" and stay home until you feel comfortable with your travelling companions. Being with someone that you don't want to be with,isn't my idea of how to spend a vacation even in CR.

Last night I was at my Best friends club and "Eddie and another guy came in." The other guy is way more important than Eddie from my buddies advice and now Eddie has read our CRT forum and basically said everything is right with our forum. (without apologizing) He admited our forum was top notch everyone has different opinions and we all learn from each one and decide for ourselves. What I still don't know is he brags about thios Daniel Espanoza guy is top fishing guy in the world , yadda yadda. I would have prefered muho gusto because we can fit enough people on the boat including girls for bjs out to the deep. Now we plan on leaving ZB sun instead of mon to hit up the ATV and Zip tour. someone send me info on price and times so we can book this. also we are going to Preeve night club sat night we know someone there and have VIP access. As for right now I will be at ZB sat at 1pm.

What is Preeve? Is it a real night club or a strip joint?

N2- you're a big boy so I am sure you will do what you think is necessary. You will be going down with your "best friend." You will have a blast. If his client and the other one get annoying, find a way to separate. Unless they are raving dicks, I do not see how you will not have a good time. And if Eddie does not like the accomodations he can get his own. Relax and enjoy.
