I was thinking about trying out Hotel Morazan for a few days. I wanted to take off for Jaco and was wondering if anyone ever had problems with theft or anything since I was planning on leaving my stuff in the rooom.

Only problem I have heard with the Morazan was "lost" reservations. Not sure I would be comfortable leaving stuff in a hotel room for a couple of days. Check if they have a secure storage area that you could use. Since you are paying for the room while you are gone there should be no charge.

Chilimike,
Did they sneak into your room and take the items?
No safe?
or was it while you were on the beach?

Hotel Morazan is it safe?

No hotel is safe. Protect your stuff at all times. Leave your smaller valuables in the safe and LOCK up everything else of value in your suitcase whenever you leave the room. It still won't protect you from theft but it will make it a little bit harder.

Morazan s**ks. Unless you get a newer remodeled room the old ones are small, not well cared for and overall stink. It's a Tico hang out late at night and early morning and the male staff could care less if you are staying there or not. Stick with HDR, SL or Sleep Inn.

cb...some of your points are true...who cares if that bar is a tico hangout after 3.00 am are you really going to that bar during thoses hours (i think not) my rooms 201 408 were clean , didnt smell and when i have talked to the staff i got what i need (and of late the staff were even more friendy ) also really the reason someone on this site would want to stay there ...location , location , location ...and the price over 5 nites your bill will be around 200.00 vs sleep inn near 500.00 sportmen near 300.00 and pres 400.00 and the money you will save on taxi's does add up i am sorry you dont look at the morazan the way i do ....ymmv just dont look at the morazan as a 4 or 5 star hotel or even a high 3 but i have stayed at 5 other hotels and during my stays at all of them i have wished i just would of stayed at the morazan and that includes the sportmens on my last trip ....as i use the morazan as a tool to get lower prices on pu*sy ..and i have pulled girls out of the casino for 40.00 and that bar for 30.00 and with no chica fees ...it helps keep my trips cheap and i have never had even one problem with the staff or my bill....that they didnt take care of ...

I ended checking out and taking all my stuff with me. To be honest, that place is just to dumpy. I think I will stick with the clarion and the sleep inn. It has breakfast, always clean, and the service is good. They don't always charge you for the chica fee at the sleep inn anyways. They will if you sign her in, but a lot of time you can just walk to the elevation and the staff wont harass you if they see you. The safe is free too.

I have to take exception with this remark.

Hotel Castillio has proven itself safe to me. Once I was drunk and went out leaving my door open (not unlocked, but open). I had a camera sitting out and other valuables. Everything was just as I left it, including the open door. The staff there is just excellent! I don't worry about my belongings at Hotel Castillio.

Stayed there 4 times. Always good.

Except not having hot water a few nights.

And of course the night back in April when the whole town lost power for 3 hours, and we were in the elevator when it went off.
