Post subject:  SL Online Reservation... Needs Work

I hate posting criticism about this place. In July I enjoyed some wonderful nights here and the staff at SL are awesome.

However...About 10 days ago, I used their online reservation system to book a stay in the Penthouse. No automatic response. Guess they don't have one. One week later still unconfirmed I sent an email asking for confirmation. Nothing. Finally I called.

"We are sorry, there are no available rooms." Thanks, I could have used this information about a week ago.

The hotel is great. I just wish they would give a courtesy email if an online reservation is unavailable. My advise is obviously to check with a live person. Computers only can do so much I guess.

I had the exact same experience about 3 or 4 weeks ago with SL. Tried the online route and got absolutely zero response so finally wound up just calling. I find the same with the C.R. Car Rental companies. My suggestion: If no reply within a day or 2 call them or make alternate plans.

Ditto with me the difference is I went back and forth with emails for awhile, I finally took Bill and others advice and just called spoke to Carlos and I'm all set for Jan. I think my frustration could have been relieved if I just gave in and called in the first place as I will next time!

I like the place so much as it is with the cheers atmosphere that the small trouble we have booking online is easily fixed with a phone call. Now that it is done I can get back to being excited for my next trip 18 glorious days with the biggest decision's being which honey is next.

Let's not trash the SL about lack of 21st century booking. I was so pleased when the desk lovely erased my booking and gave me an extra day.

I am an older monger and get tired of 21st century requirements.

Hello Gentlemen,

Thank you for your comments and concern.

It has been a problem for over 6 months now about return emails from our staff directly going into our customers junk email files because they originate from Costa Rica. Costa Rica is one of the capitals of junk email origination because of the large amount of Spam mail from online pharmacies, Sports Books and casinos that send huge amounts of bulk Spam email from here to the USA and Canada. The ISP providers now have extra sensitive filters that send our responses away from the main mailboxes into junk mail folders. For those of you who did not receive a response from us please check your junk mail boxes for our response unless of course you have deleted them just as I do from time to time. If you do not have a response from us please send me a copy of your inquiry mail to me at bill@sportsmenscr.com and I will investigate these. We simply could not stay in business if we did not respond to our 30 or so emails we receive each day.

In the meantime we are looking at hosting our email servers in the USA so that our responses do not commence from Costa Rica.
