We have just been kicked out of the Presidente rather unceremoneously (see my Presidente review)... We drive to Hotel M, and it's a damned good thing that we have someone who has been there and knows how to get there with us, because otherwise neither me nor my girl would have ever found it.
Now that I know where it is, I can find it, but those first 2 or three times, we were lucky to have a guide..
We check into Hotel M, and tell our sad tale to the woman checking us in, who BALKS at the way we were treated. Already we like the place. We head up to our room, which feels a little bit like an old Victorian room, or a room at a B&B more than a hotel.
The shower was very pretty, althought water flow was weak, and we didn't have hot water at all until we called down to complain.
The TV was very nice, and the bed was extremely comfortable.
What sets Hotel M apart is definitely it's bar, staff, and atmosphere. Being at Hotel M felt like being Norm at Cheers. The outdoor hottub looked very nice and inviting, although I never went in.
I had dinner, which was spectacular, and quite possibly one of the best meals I've had in CR, and breakfast there, which is DEFINITELY the best single meal I've ever had in CR. ***If you like hot sauce that is very spicy, I highly recommend their house salsa***
The bartenders danced on the bar like in Coyote Ugly, they were friendly, as was the staff.
Parking was free, and enclosed, which is great...
Wireless had a good strong signal.
We had MANY tequila shots, and had a good time at the hotel...
I was very happy with Hotel M, and would definitely have stayed there again, until I got my bill for the night before... Almost 450!!!, granted 200 of it was boose and food, but DAYUM, 200 plus for the night!!! OMG. That was with the CRT discount.
If you want a great place to stay, nice staff, awesome food, and DEFINITELY chica friendly (They seemed to have several girls working the bar, kinda like at sportsman's), and price isn't an issue, then I would highly recommend Hotel M.
I, however, travel on a slightly smaller budget, and can't see spending that much for a room again... (note to those who mention me doing it at ZB over and over, YES, but I make up for it in volume there, and I really am treated more like family at ZB, than a guest).
Overall impression:
I REALLY liked Hotel M. I think it's a beautiful place with a great staff. It's quiet, and the bar is a great place to hang out. I could not ask for a nicer, more pleasant place, but for the price I cannot stay there often...
If price isn't an issue for you, then by all means, this is DEFINITELY a worthwhile place to stay.
