Reservation desk at HDR informed me that the rate for a "Standard" room in January will be $90/night plus taxes (up from $80). Seems like they just raised their rates. :?:

Why shouldn't they? That's smart business, the place is packed every day.

Agree Orange, as long as they continue to run mid 80% occupancy levels and Norte Americanos continue to pony up for an avg room and great location. I'm just waiting for the day they have the jeuvos to ask for an admittance charge to the bar

I wouldn't put it past them. You think anybody would not go if they charged like 2k at the door? They probably wouldn't lose 1 customer.

Doubt they would do that. Was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and the hotels on the strip are running a 92% occupancy rate. They are not about to change there operation and kill the golden goose, the casinos, restaurants, shows, etc. when they have that kind of occupancy. Same scenario with the the HDR. If they run 80% occupancy, and I think it is higher, they are not about to kill the golden cow, the girls in the BM, as long as the occupancy stay high.

Simple business plan do not mess with success.

The place is the reason i go to Costa Rica in the first place so i don't mind paying for the convenience of having chicas in the lobby 24/7.For me it's the perfect set up although i do split my time by staying at the Presidente a couple nights.

I am all for the fee for admittance to the bar.
All men should get in free and they should charge chicas by the pound.

Maybe the change is just for the high season. Also I would say most of the time they are 90% or more (booked)
