Ok you veterans of this hotel, how much room will I have to safely secure my stuff? I might have some expensive items with me the normal tourist stuff including money. But how is it all safe? Key? Combination lock? Anything I might want to bring to keep my stuff more secure? I sleep with a Glock 30 under my pillow but fat chance of bringing that there! Please advise thanks!!!

There's a safe in the rooms...

I've never locked anything, including cash there, and haven't even lost 0.50...

there is a decent sized safe that you can put your laptop into and 2 shelves. I have never locked anything up other than my passport and my extra money. cell phones, multiple cameras, laptop left in the open and on at all times along with money left out and have not had a single thing dissapear even with multiple room cleanings per day!

The safes have combinations but are not hooked up. they use the key only which is free with the room, no deposit!

In Costa Rica, ZB is the exception rather than the rule!

I also stayed at ZB once - in the Cohiba suite I believe it was. It was the one-bedroom suite at the top of the stairs with a balcony overlooking the TV corner.

There was a safe in a large mahogony chest. I locked up only my passport and large cash reserves. I left out (at times while I was away) my camera, laptop, wallet, loose bills, and change and I never had anything go missing.

At the end of the stay I left all my loose change on the bar for the cleaning staff because even though I left it out for them daily they never took it as far I as recall.

ZB is probably the only place in CR where I feel comfortable leaving items of value out.

As a nice added touch, they did my laundry for free.

I agree totally. I went to the bar on my 2nd day there, and about 2 hours later not too long after a session, there is a knock on my door. it was one of the cleaning girls with a stack of my clothes in her hand. I didn't even know they were missing and I had to do a double take when I seen it in her hands. I turned to look at the pile of dirty clothes on the floor that was, of course, then missing. I can't say enough good things about this place.

Yep. ZB is the exception. It's not perfect, but its pretty damn close. If eddie would just announce those 99$ rooms there would be NO discussion.

Your crap will be safe, trust me. And if you give eduardo a list ahead of your visit, you'll get snacks and whatnot at cost. Believe me, its worth the effort.

well, like he said, you give them a list and it is waiting for you when you get there. no minibars to rape you at this hotel. you tell them what you want, and that is what you get at their price.

That's a very good question, and one I asked myself some time ago:

https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18825

as for the "patron," and all other liquor, you would of course buy that at the duty free shop. the girls love candy and gum, and espically M&M's for some reason so I would suggest that you might want to get some candy/bars as small gifts for the girls if you plan on being a repeat customer. It is an extremely cheap way to give a little added bonus/tip/whatever. just don't try to replace the propina with a candy bar, they might not like that.

I like to get a few little bags of chips and also a seletion of gum, chocolate, soft drinks, etc. It goes a long way with the chicas.
