I will be in San Jose late October and need to make a quick same day trip to Tamarindo. Is there any difference between Nature Air and Sansa? Which do you recommend. Thanks!

IMHO, it's a crap shoot.

Nature Air flies out of Pavas. They have twin engine planes that seat 17 people.

Sansa flies out of a small terminal, next to Juan SantaMaria Airport. They have single engine planes that seat 12 people.

Both companies have multiple flights daily, to towns all over CR.

Here's the websites:

www.flysansa.com

Think your best choice is which has a flight schedule that best fits in your plans. Nature Air flying out of Pavas is very convenient.

Many prefer Nature Air because of the 2 engine planes as opposed to Sansa's single engine fleet. I think the counter balance is that Sansa is part of TACA so you could make the reasonable assumption that they have better maintenance facilities and that their pilots are attempting to get upgraded to the TACA part of the company.

I have flown both and preferred the Nature Air planes over Sansa. A much smoother flight.

Also, the price can be quite different. Over LD weekend, I paid $44/each way on NA versus $82 that Sansa charges to Tamarindo. NA has some cheaper flights in the mornings and also changes prices based on supply/demand. Sansa is always $82/each way to Tamarindo.
