The Sportsmen's Lodge is only about 2 blocks from the Castillo. You can walk it in about 2 or 3 minutes.

You cant go wrong with the Castillo, Darren and his staff are top notch. It is two blocks up and one block over from the sl, half a block from the nf, an zb is at the bottom of the hill.

Is there a better way than sending my credit card info through an email to Darren to reserve the room? Seems kinda sketchy to send my credit card info to a stranger. I am paying cash for the room once Im there.

Just the way it is in CR. The SL does it the same way. You can call if you don't feel like emailing it.

You will not have a problem sending anything to Darren. The Castillo is the only place I stay.

Well, after some of the forum respnses, I felt comfortable enough to email him my info. Within 24 hours he emailed back and also left a voicemail with a confirmation number. Quick service, I like that.

I emailed Darren that I don't like to use my credit card. He had me send a $50.00 Traveler's check to an address in Florida for the deposit. He emailed me six days later with my confirmation number.

I've stayed there two times. It's a nice little place to stay. I never ate at the Gardens while I was there. The hotel desk people are very nice. However, my next trip I will try another hotel to spice things up.

With thier numerous discounts plus the CRT discount can some tell what a standard room taken for a week in high season and paid with cash would cost.Myself and Joker97 will be staying for 16 days in Feb - Mar. We are considering La Amistad and the Morazan. I have been staying at the Presidente and liked it but for such a long trip would like to find a cheaper place.Room must have electronic safe , key card, good bed and refrigerator.
Thanks Joker99

Your criteria eliminates the Castillo......they have neither "room key cards" or "electronic safes." Only some of the rooms have a refrigerator.
