Planning an extended CR visit and was wondering if any of the guys that are living in CR or on a long term visit have suggestions on receiving mail and packages in CR from the USA through a reputable forwarding service? |

I talked to someone once who used this: http://www.mbecr.com/index.htm If i recall right he set up a PO box in Miami and had his mail forwarded there and then on to CR. He said it was pretty safe, reliable, and suprisingly efficient. I am not endorsing this and my memory is a little foggy on this but it give you someplace to start. |

Most expats use aerocasillas. www.aerocasillas.com/ There are others such as jetbox but have never used their service. |

I couldn't access the website Brother Crookedcr mentioned. Perhaps they're under a different name with a different web address? There's another option that some here seem to have a bit of attitude about but here goes nothing: www.arcr.net is an expat info and advocacy organization that among other things, offers a Miami mail forwarding address. You have to join to take advantage. |

There's another option that some here seem to have a bit of attitude about but here goes nothing: www.arcr.net is an expat info and advocacy organization that among other things, offers a Miami mail forwarding address. You have to join to take advantage. Yes you can join ARCR, $100.00 a year for non residents, and use their mail service (provided by aerocasillas). For that you get the privilege of having to go to their office, located near parque Sabana, to pick up your mail. There is also a per letter charge which varies depending on the weight. or You can open your own Aerocasillas account, varying plans available depending on your anticipated mail volume, and have the mail delivered to your doorstep. The plan I have is $12.00 a month but if you pay for the year in advance it is $120.00. So for $20.00 a year at most (since that would only be the savings if you got zero pieces of mail ):shock: ARCR charges by the piece you get you mail delivered. |

Does anyone have any experience with on-line ordering of computer peripherals and telephones via these forwarding services? Do they forward these products? Are the import paperwork prepared, paid (charged to DR/CR card), and processed? I am interested in ordering some products on line from companies like Tiger Direct with a Domestic US ship to physical address and then forwarded to CR. Thank you for your ideas and suggestions. |

You can order things online and have them sent to your Miami address through Aerocasillas. They prepare all the documentation for customs, clear the shipment and deliver it to you in CR. Naturally there are fees associated with this service as well as customs charges. They also will process your shipments using your 6 month exoneration allowance if you notify them in advance and complete the proper paperwork. |
