who was boarding a plane home... actually on time, when a plane veers off the runway... and pretty much every flight is... cancelled..

That's right, my luck used to just screw up my flights, now.... i ruined it for the entire international airport...

Does anyone have the balls to book a flight with me??

Now you can go back and use the zona blue session you won at the party (if you haven't already).

And to answer your question, I would love to book anyone of my flights back to the states as the same as yours...Just please don't be on my flights going to SJO. I would hate to have that flight delayed or cancelled.

Good Luck getting home

From what I saw before I left SL today, you were well on your way to another successful day in CR. Hate to say congrats over a plane crash but guess it worked out for you. Perhaps this trip, your free ZB session and meeting all of us nutcases will get you to keep coming back instead of heading farther south :)

The Tico Times said it cleared and reopened at 7 PM.
When did the event happen?

That ment a lot of incoming flights being diverted elsewhere and a general big mess.

I think it happened around noon. My flight originally was at 235, my plane was waiting at Liberia, they knew it would reopen but it was an abbreviated schedule, mostly the later scheduled arrivals and a few departures.

Surprisingly, from my experience, the SJO airport wasn't that bad, but I was flying US airways and there was like 2 flights and no lines, I was at the airport at 6 sharp. The lines for Delta and American were both out the door. My flight wound up being about 90 minutes late to depart. There was still a chance I got the Charlotte to NY connection, but then we learned that the normally 4 hour 2 minute flight to Charlotte was now going to be 5 hours 30 minutes due to route adjustments for the hurricane.

Now the way I assume this goes, I get that connection anyway... but get this, that plane left ON TIME!!! Are you kidding me? There are two more later ones, but I'm almost at risk because immigration in Charlotte was acting muy tico and took over an hour. I run to the get for my later connection and... cmon... you should have already guessed...

delayed....

I left the Amistad at 530 SJ time (without sleeping, oh yeah did i make the most of that last day Prostoner, I promise to write a report soon), and got home at 1030 NY time, getting to my apt 30 minutes after landing (finally something not muy tico...)

report will come... next time I'm taking a boat or driving... I'm literally terrified, what else can happen? in since oCT 2005, here is the entire list of flights I have taken, and the result...

NYC to Fll - Oct 2005 - Never even made it there, booked 6 weeks in advance, and hurricane Wilma decided to make the most ridiculous storm track ever, wound up getting delayed on both ways to Vegas and back which Spirit let me switch to.

NYC to Chi Nov 2005 - Get there hour late, guarantees for NYC to Chicago, came back late and lost my cell phone.

NYC to BKK > Overall was behind schedule but nothing terrible, except for the screaming Babi*s on a 24 hour flight, but I flew Cathay, should be expected.

NYC > SJO > Jan 2006 - That's right, on my virgin trip to CR< American still had it's direct flight from SJO to JFK. Well, they had a "mechanical" prioblem the minute 15 people showed up for a monday night flight, so this is the 2nd time in two trips I've been "stuck" in the gulch for an extra night. Met a stellar flaca that night, and get this... she couldn't come back to me room because... and I swear... her brother worked the front desk at the hotel AA put me up at... at least I got to see the Morazon.. (It was the Tryp Corobici... only telling because it's pertinent when i write my trip report).

NYC > Toronto... (Feb 06) Maybe the worst... 50 minute flight was delayed 3 hours with snow issues, then we take off, in the air Toronto gets closed, we are running out of gas and go to Ottowa... Ottowa can't give us gas because there is a rule that you must have stairs connected to the plane for fueling and they don't have the right stairs for our plane. finally we get to Toronto, no one is there to open jetway for us, 13 hours total, and cab gets into an accident as we get to the hotel (biz trip)

OK this is getting long, had more problems on a Toronto trip, a chicago that went perfect, Brazil trip #1 had three connections, but all three were late so it worked out I guess... Almost crashed in Colombia and got stuck there overnight, Brazil disaster was bad until what happened on the way to Argentina, and now I caused the SJO plane crash. My success rate is something like 4%, but that 4% has to be adjusted to negative 30000 because of the physical pain I've had to endure...

So who wants to be a wingman and fly together

TWO PHUCKING DAYS TO GET HOME FROM CR!!! ARGHHH!!!

That small plane crashed on the runway in SJO on Monday, around 12:40 pm. That phucked up everyone's world. Admin1 & I were on the same flight on Monday (that got cancelled), and we were on the same flight yesterday, that took forever to get to Miami!

I arrived at the airport at 7:30 a.m. for my noon flight, hoping to get on something earlier, but it wasn't happening. After a 3 hour drive to my house from the airport in MIA, I finally got home around 11 pm. The trip from hell....!!!

MG :?

Dude, I call myself the "Black Cloud of Travel." I have had so many incidents, I almost hesitate to book anything. El Silencioso can verify my many tales. No one would ever want to travel with me. From mechanical delays to 2 hurricane delays, to lost luggage. Stay away from me, I am the travel plague. It is a miracle I have even made it to and from CR once.

Sorry,

I DO NOT understand ANYONE complaining about being "STUCK" in CR.

That's like hitting the lottery for me.

What, you mean I have a "REASON" for staying 2 extra days???

My only problem would be that Eddie would have probably already booked the suites at ZB, so I'd have to stay somewhere else...

Although I'm sure I could find a lovely DR chic to put me up for a couple of nights....

Here's the story from Tuesday's Inside Costa Rica:

Private Jet Veers Off Runway, Closes San Jose Airport For 6 Hours
For the second time in less than a week, emergency crews at the Juan Santamaría (San José) international airport had to deal with an airport emergency.

Yesterday afternoon shortly after 12:50pm, a private jet with 7 people on board had a mechanical failure causing it veer off the runway on takeoff.

The Sabreliner was leaving for Cartagena, Colombia, with five passengers, the pilot and co-pilot, when it left the runway, as firefighters responding to the emergency had to use foam to soak up the spilled jet fuel.

Two people were injured by impact of the aircraft leaving the runway, one of the injured was a pregnant woman, who were immediately attended to by Cruz Roja (Red Cross) personnel. The aircraft with the call letters N726JR was piloted by Mario Quesada. Last week a jetliner returned to ground shortly after takeoff due to an alarm in the cockpit.

Yesterday's accident forced the closure of the airport for six hours, causing delays in arrivals and departures.

Some 2.500 to 3.000 people were affected by the airport closure that returned to normal operations by 7:00pm.

Man, the girls couldn't take another 2 days of you. I completely broke a ZB legend as it was this weekend... with 130 CRT in town that was like 8 QBFs staying at ZB!!

I'm not complaining about being stuck, when my report ends you will all see my BEST night on this trip was the extra one. However, the pain it caused me by missing work will be felt into next week, extreme pain, and my responsabilities elsewhere were just too important. I almost need to book a buffer day, which totally sucks and goes against all efficiency ideals I have. I would rather pay the price once in a while and book things tight, it just seems I'm paying dearly for every trip I take.

Sorry guys for being the reason everyone had pain, I take responsability. If you guys don't want me to come back then I understand :(

8) Ron Medellin,
If you did not have BAD luck you would have no luck at all. Please as help to the rest of the travelling world you would please post your travel plans here for your next flight? If we all have this information as soon as you book your flight then the rest of us can make alternate plans. Just a thought. Glad you were not injured in the mishap.
Thanks
Bobshere 8)
