Do all Hotels in CR gouge you with 10% service tax plus another 13% sales tax plus another 3% tourism for a grand total of 26% TAXXX? :?:

13 + 3.39 for a total of 16.39%, no service charge (I believe only restaurants do that)

An $85/night room is really $100/night.

Yes all hotels are required to charge you the 13% sales tax that applies to almost anything you buy in CR. In addition they have to charge you an additional 3%, usually referred to as a bed tax in most US cities, on top of the 13%. Since the 3% is applied after the 13% has already been added the effective rate becomes 16.39%

There are hotels that will play games with the tax if you pay in advance and with U.S. dollars.

Well just to let you all know, the hotel in question (playing games) is yours truly SPORTSMAN's LODGE where I and my best friend just spent over $2000 in rooms with a promise of a 10% discount for joining CRTs which we did only to come home and take a closer look at my hotel bill and see that were charged a 10% (over $500) service charge(restaurants only??). I wiil soon tell everybody that Crts and Sportmans is a SCAMMMMMM Later

I certainly can understand your being upset. However, before you get to worked up I would suggest you contact Bill at the hotel and see if there has been an honest mistake, a miscommunication or some other explanation.

SL has always been very cooperative in addressing guests concerns and complaints. If you fail to reach a satisfactory resolution with them then by all means voice your complaint to others.

Before you also paint CRT with that broad brush contact Admin 1 and let him know of your problem and ask for an explanation.

GoKul,

Did you check your bill upon checkout? You wait until you fly back stateside to itemize a 2k hotel bill? Ok to each his own.

Did you assume that they knew you were a CRT VIP or did you actually show your card upon checkin/out? Have you attempted to discuss this matter with either Bill or Johanna? :?

Most people check the bill before they hand over a credit card to pay for it. I know that I look over the bill before I let them charge my card. If anything looks off, I question it and resolve ON THE SPOT, not when I get home.

HolaB, you beat me to it.

I would strongly suggest calling Johanna or Bill directly. There is a 10% service charge for restaurant and bar charges at all places in CR.

Yes crt is a big scam, it was only a matter of time before some genius figured it out.

GoKul,
Crts AND Sportsmans is a scammmm ? Are you implying that we (CRT), as a group, are a scam ? And the SL is a scam too???

Damn.... I guess this means that you won't be staying at the SL again ??? Nor will you be posting on the forum anymore ? This is just terrible....

Right on BK. Telling people that you always check out your bill before handing over your CC, while certainly good advice, is hardly going to solve his problem or cool his anger whether justified or not.

The way to solve the problem is to communicate with the SL.

Also noticed that discrepancy but decided to just chalked it off to the guy being angry and not necessarily thinking coherently.
