Has anyone ever used Ticabus to travel to Nica or Panama? I've never been to either counrty and was thinking about a possible three day trip across the border.

I have never used them but have spoken to people who have used both Tica Bus & Nica Bus to Nicaragua. FYI almost all of them say Nica bus is better.

I have traveled on both. It is a long ride. The Nica Bus to Nicaragua is much better. The border crossing into Panama is a long tedious process but that was before they opened the new immigration center and it is surely much better now.

I don't believe Nica Bus has been in business for around five years now. I think you guys are referring to TransNica, whose station is on calle 22, a block north of Paseo Colon.

To Managua, TransNica and Tica Bus offer about the exact same service, although TransNica has their Servicio Ejecutivo which is much more comfortable and a little quicker. I almost always use TransNica to make the trip.

The only time I traveled to Panama by bus it was on Tica Bus and it was an overnight trip that got in around 11:00 the next day. The one thing I remember most is that it was absolutely ice cold the entire night with the A/C cranked. You couldn't even see out the windows because they had frost on them! Bring a blanket or a heavy coat if you're going to use Tica Bus to go to Panama.

A search revealed no other threads on this topic.
To Nicaragua: www.TicaBus.com/ingles.php
www.vianica.com/transportation.php this site also has info on air, boats and ferries, car rentals, etc. to or in Nicaragua

To Panama: www.TicaBus.com/ingles.php also goes elsewhere in Central America
