Yeah I know cars are not recommended but I need the car and its a long story. I've driven thru San Jose before.

Not the fastest way but perhaps easier: I'm thinking drive on rt 1 from the airport and turn left on Paseo Colon. Near the hospital on the right the road turns right and then shortly thereafter left and you continue on in the same direction. I think you pass the Teatro Nacional on the left. I'm fuzzy about where to turn left and head up towards SL. I seem to remember you come to a roundabout and you want to go round and end up going off to your left.

Also, I recall there was ample parking outside SL.

(If you don't know San Jose, you'll say 'look at a map and follow the signs'. Signs? What signs?)

I'm fuzzy about where to turn left and head up towards SL....

Once you make the right off Paseo Colon by the hospital then a sharp left you'll be on Ave 2. Stay to the left side. From Ave 2, you will turn LEFT on Calle 11, it's about 3 blocks past the Teatro Nacional. That is one block past Calle 9 where Del Rey is on. As your driving down Ave 2, if you can see the DR up the block to the left, you will turn left on the next block. Another suggestion... as you are driving up Ave 2, see if you can spot a street sign on one of the corners identifying that street. I think there are at least one or two signs on Ave 2. Then you can count out to C11 (i.e. calle 8,6,4,2,central,1,3,5,7,9,11).

Once you turn left on calle 11, you will go up 2 blocks and then go under an overpass. Once you clear the overpass, you will have to turn RIGHT and go around the park to the intersection. This is Ave 7. You take another RIGHT and go up the hill towards Calderon Hospital. At the first traffic light (corner of the hospital), you make a LEFT.

Go about 2-3 blocks, and make a LEFT on the street with a bakery/cafe on the corner. If you pass the pharmacy on the left, you have gone too far. You turn left right before the pharmacy. The left turn is almost directly in front of the ramp to the hospital. The bakery on the corner is a good reference point to turn.

Once you make the turn left, you'll go downhill, and past the railroad tracks. (WATCH OUT FOR TRAIN  ) You'll see Amistad on the corner (peach colored building, if I remember). Keep going STRAIGHT until the street ends and turn LEFT. The SL is on the right side.

If you park in front of the SL you have to pay for the parking during the day time. Parking on the street unless closely watched is an open invitation to having the car stolen, vandalized or broken into.

I am not sure if SL has off street parking. Parking lots can be unsafe as well but they usually offer a little more security and peace of mind. There is an off street parking lot up Avenue 11 between Calle 13 and 15.

Orange gave excellent instructions. Part of them were: "You'll see Amistad on the corner (peach colored building, if I remember)."

The parking lot to which I am referring is just past the Amistad on your left. It is a 1/2 block walk to the SL.

I don't know that particular lot, but most lots charge on average 600¢ per hour. For an overnight, that's about 9-10 hours, so it's about ($10-11).
