Post subject:  Sleep Inn question

I have read all the posts I can find on this place re: chica fee or not. My question is this. Do the rooms have safe deposit boxes? I have a King Suite reserved for 8/17-20, and have been unable to get an email reply from the hotel on my question. I have seen some information that suggests that they do, some not and the hotel website does not indicate this. Anyone know for sure? I prefer a safe deposit box (especially for laptop) and already have a back-up room reserved at the HDR, but don't like to stay there.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks PacoLoco.....Yet another site I haven't seen. The corporate site did not indicate this, but I have found reviews that did. Is that a safe deposit box I see in the room picture?

Yea I am aware of the guest fee, or whatever it is. The way I fugure it is the room I have reserved @ HDR is $110. Add on top of that a $10 chica fee that brings me to $120 per nite. My Sleep Inn room is $100 with chica fee $125. A good nights sleep is worth more than a few bucks, but have not yet canceled my room at HDR until I decide. Either option just forces me to have one of the daily rounds at ZB or Idem, to reduce the guest charges. If they had room at the Presidente, I would be there over all, but alas, no room @ the Inn!

$110? $100? Is that what these places are charging for a room? Are these standard singles or jr suites?

I looked at a $110 room at the Del Rey. A king sized bed, an older TV and just kinda run down. No comparison to the $72 room I had at SL with no chica fee. But I have to admit someday I would like to stay at the Belly of the Beast.

Agreed......I really don't like the HDR, but rooms were tight for the time I am scheduled to be there. So I thought I woud try the Sleep Inn as I have heard the accomodations are quite nice (and new). No room at the Prez or the SL, so I was kinda stuck with what was available. I prefer staying in the gulch as it allows me to walk around during the day , hang-out at the News Cafe, and just as easy to drop back to the room for an afternoon nap!

Another option would be the Amon Plaza. I just booked a Jr. Suite through Nixon in the casino for $90 per night with no chica fee. :D The amon plaza is 1 block from Zona Blue, 2 blocks to New Fantasy, maybe 5 blocks to the Del Re. All this and a great free breakfast.

Thanks for that insight. I had originally booked a room at Amon, thru the corporate website, but had read such mixed reviews that decided to cancel the reservation (excess charges, credit card issues, etc). Plus, I like to have accomodations arranged prior to arrival and I am not sure how to reserve with Nixon from the states. Most posts seemed to suggest talking with him directly, upon arrival into SJO. The other side to this decision is that I like to walk to and fro at night, but don't feel comfortable going back and forth to the HDR during the evening hours.

LTS,

If you really want to be very close to Del Rey, then Sleep Inn might do it for you. However, like Boudmon, I have stayed at the Amon several times and have been very pleased. The taxis there use a maria so you can get to the Del Rey for a buck (getting back is another thing). The chicas seem to like it there, as well.

I usually email Nixon Netto at paradisorooms@hotmail.com and get a very quick response from him. Just tell him you are a vip and want to rent a jr suite for however many days and he will email you back with the price and then you send him credit card info. You won't know which room you are in (doesn't matter, IMO), but he will verify the category and price. Once you arrive, you go to the casino, obtain the voucher, and from then on, you are treated as a regular guest except for cheaper prices and no chica fee.

Anyway, its an alternative.

Ciaociao

Sounds like a good option to me, that I might just try. I don't need to be that close to HDR, but I do like wantering around Calle Central during the day and the News Cafe. Quite frankly, HDR is wearing on me as I have had too many marginal experiences as of late. Is it safe to send credit card info via email? What is the voucher all about?

Their website shows $125 for a small king suite. Is it that good of a deal for CRT VIP members?

LTS4- to get the CRT discount you have to book through the casino-
