After my next trip, I will become a Distancia Plata level member (20K miles flown in one calendar year) which entitles me to automatic upgrades to Business on all flights (based on availability). I've searched and there is no info about Taca FF program upgrades.

Is anybody a Plata member currently or was in the past? They say that upgrades are automatic, is this so? Any other comments (good or bad) about it..

Thanks.

I've been a Plata level member for a while. If space is available, they will offer upgrades automatically when you do on-line check-in. If you instead check in at the airport, you simply ask at the counter (you get priority check-in as well). They will not grant upgrades at the gate after you've already checked in.

Comments about it? Freakin' awesome!

Orange,

I have received many upgrades automaticly by email usually 7 to 10 days before my scheduled flight. I always check in at the airport counter and ask for upgrades at the counter. With the upgrade to Plata you can use the Classe Exectivia line and bye-pass the line for coach  But waiting for your new card takes some time and patience! :?

Thanks for the replies.

Does the card for Plata look different? Is it silver color versus blue? That would make sense.

Orange,

The Taca Distancia levels are all color coded.

Azul-blue
Plata-silver 20,000 miles Access to Clase Ejectiva counters
Oro-Gold 40,000 miles
Platino-Platium 80,0000 miles

You will receive a new colored card and luggage tags with every level you earn.
