What would be the best way to go to Jaco from SJ. Rather not take a bus or drive. How about private transfer or Taxi Rates? |

You can easily hire a driver. Most of the drivers at the Sportsmens will drive you out there in a van. Not sure of the price since I have never done it but it is easily done. |

just a heads up ..we went to the 'coke cola" bus station to go on the cheap...take a bus there and a cab back...we were there early and the early bus was full and there was a later bus....taxi drivers were watching us ...2 gringo's late 40's in a bus station ..so they knew we be shopping ...after about 3 drivers i found one that would take my offer 50.00 cash and i would buy him a soda at the croc bridge ....same on the way back with a different driver ...but even better ...i can save you a 100.00 "dont go' san jose (my view) is better ..safer and there is nothing to do during the daytime ...i felt eyes were on me all day and nite as a rich gringo ...as i have shared my story before .."i got robbed " so i may still be a little bitter .....but going there has never crossed my mind again (4 trips later ) you want to get out of san jose for a day or 2 ...look into flying to mang. nica. for a flight under 200.00 and hotels about 40.00 to 50.00 its a side trip i hope to enjoy.. |

To Jaco, a private car will cost you $70-90 each way. If you are going with two or more wingmen, it makes sense. Under 2 hrs. If you are going solo or with 1 other person, you'd save some money by taking Interbus. It's only $19 each way. 2.5 hrs. The third option is the Tico bus. It's about $3 each way, 3.5 hrs. I'd recommend Interbus. It's comfortable, A/C, good drivers (except the guy who crashed into a house a few weeks ago), late model mini-buses, make rest stop... www.interbusonline.com |

https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8340 Anyone off this list will work for you Would highly recommend Juan Carlos Vega, great guy, very reliable and very honest. His number can be found in above thread. Should be able to get it done for $75. Cheaper by bus but not my thing |

the $ is the one I was looking for. Just wanted to make sure that when someone says the bus that they dont mean the local bus. Guess this above guy is down on JAco. What do the rest of you say. Just want to chill on the beach drink and eat a bit with a daily visit to a friendly tica. |

I hate Jaco too, but wanted to give you an objective response as far as your transportation options. "Why I hate Jaco" by Orange I hate Jaco because it is the most uncomfortable climate on Earth (of the places I've been to) I hate Jaco becaue I hate humidity I hate Jaco because the beach is fugly and smells I hate Jaco because the water is polluted with raw sewage I hate Jaco because it's a lot of work to find chicas during the day I hate Jaco because all the chicas in the Beatle Bar ask for cien and won't come down I hate Jaco because hotels are expensive and aren't worth the price I hate Jaco because it's hot there ![]() I probably can think of a few other reasons but those are the biggest ones. BTW, the Tico bus NOT so incredible bad. I did it once for kicks, but will pay an extra $16 for the comfort and A/C of Interbus. |

The problem is that the only beach that you can find consistent, quality chicas is Jaco. The other beaches are hit or miss. Interbus to Quepos is $29 each way. Manuel Antonio has a great beach but at best, limited chica action. There have been reports about Tamarindo having some action and Flamingo has a bar where a few chicas hang out. Both are about 5 hrs away by Interbus (also $29 each way). |

If you can wing a little Spanish you can pick up a taxi at the airport for $60 to Jaco. Especially this time of year. Not 100% of the time though. It is hit or miss. I go with pirates too a lot of the time. Some would warn against it but all the ones I've encountered are cool. |

Post subject: | I guess |
I guess its right that everyone has their opinon. Just spoke to a buddy here in New Orleans who LOVEs the Del Ray and he says Jaco is fine. When I asked about the beaches he says Who needs white sand. You lay down a towel and look up at the sky. Now of course raw sewage is another issue. He says those guys must be from California( accent in his voice) anyway I do trust this guy and hes been many many times. He stays at Mango mar in Jaco. Anyone been?. Its really up tp each guy whats important, like he says there no restaurant or bar at Mango mar. I think that is something I am used to and would want. I also would like a good selection of daytime fun which you all say isnt there. Anyway Im still up in the air about my trip nbut Ill be there third week in August and I guess Ill find out for myself then. Thanks fellas. |

I agree you should check it out for yourself. Some guys like, some don't. YMMV. |

I hate Jaco because all the chicas in the Beatle Bar ask for cien and won't come down Orange, IMO, you hit the nail on the head except for the above factor. The absolute hottest chica I have ever sessioned with in CR was from the Beatle Bar, for $70, last Labor Day (see pic 6107 and pic immediately prior). And I am not a guy with "play." The next night I spent $65. Chica-wise, Jaco was a paradise. The Beatle bar is an OK venue, but it is open air, so it is nasty hot inside, as well. You can't savor a beer there, because even though it is served ice cold, it is undrinkable within minutes due to the heat. Ciaociao |
