This morning at 0843 I made a comment on the board about my June 26 experience in DFW with AA.

I received the following Email from AA at 1035 AM today...

AA.. if you are reading this.. can we work out a deal to get FF miles at IDEM or Zona Blue..???

Peace

Dear Mr. "Pidd":

We know how important it is for our customers to rely on the on-time departures and
arrivals of our flights. However, there is nothing more frustrating than learning
your flight has been delayed - or even canceled - while attempting to get to your
destination as planned. Therefore, we hope you will accept our apology for the
disruption of your travel plans on June 26.

Although our schedules cannot be guaranteed due to the many variables associated with
the operation of an airline, we want to show our concern for your disappointment. As
a sincere gesture of goodwill and to encourage you to continue traveling with us, I
have added 6,000 Customer Service Bonus miles to your AAdvantage® account. You can
view this activity soon via our web site at http://www.aa.com/AAdvantage.

While the safety of our passengers and crew members will always take priority over
on-time departures and arrivals, we hope that you will give us another opportunity to
serve you when your plans call for travel by air. It would be a pleasure to welcome
you aboard American Airlines.

Sincerely,

B. J. Russell
Customer Relations

Pidd,
Unless you filed some other type of "formal" complaint, they must be reading the board. How else could they have known? Besides, they addressed you as "Mr. Pidd" !!! Is it possible that they read this forum? :?: This surprises the sh*t out of me.....

MG

Unless we have an AA customer service agent, who simply went beyond the call and did that on work time?

Thats more likely Id say

OK PIDD:

Quit shaking the bush. How do we know that message is legit? I've got a feeling that you're playing with us poor souls that rely on AA for travel.

Perhaps some employee of AA is a part time monger and is prevy to this board.....OR.......it's that swishy male flight attendant that befriended you on a flight. Pisses me off if true. He never would even give me any napkins or peanuts.

My bet is everyone probably got 6K miles and that he got a form letter, the posting is coincidence since he posted right after and then they also send a letter out after the delayed flight.
He is not pulling anyones leg why on earth would he? thats just plain paranoia to say hes lying. I understand the need to vett info out but my opinion is he is just relaying something that happened to him that he thought odd. This board is for sharing info so keep the spice flowing... no need to bash.
I got delayed from hawaii on NW and got 10K miles and a form letter with no complaint being filed by me.... it happens. PIDD is probably his other email name as well, that part is off a little though.
I could be completely wrong though.

Are Customer Service bonus miles just like regular miles? If so, and the email authentic, that is awfully nice of AA. Delta gave me a $100 voucher good for a year (but not redeemable online) towards the purchase of a ticket after I sent them an angry letter after getting stranded at ATL overnight and denied accomodations.

They are the same except for they do not count towards elite status.
i.e. hitting 50K actual miles for platinum status. If you flew 45K and got 6K from customer service you still have not hit your platinum elite status until you fly another 5K, credit card miles dont count towards status either but you probably already knew that

I agree with Circus and Sandino, I think Mr. Pidd is a f*cking liar. There is no way in the world that AA could find out PIDD's legitimate name and AAdvantage number from this board. Come clean now or I curse you and wish you nothing but impotence!

If you read my above link you'll the the exact same AA letter of apology to another customer on another flight, also signed by BJ.

Maybe PIDD uses "Pidd" as his username for his AA account (I don't know how that works) or maybe "Pidd" is his real last name.

AA probably sent the letter to Mr. Pidd along with multiple other pissed off, delayed customers and it had absolutely nothing to do with his post on this board.

But if his name isn't Pidd for real then it doesn't add up.

Jim W & Sandino,
With all due respect, Mr Pidd is not a "f*cking liar". As a matter of fact, he is a long-time, well respected member of this board, and a friend to many of us.

Do you think that Pidd (or anyone for that matter) would use his REAL name in his post? Do you think it "might" be possible that he quoted his letter from AA, but changed his real name to his screen name, for the purpose of posting the letter ?

For the record, PIDD is a great guy, and doesn't deserve your slander.
