I have a question. Delta just tried to charge me $183 to move my trip up one day, even though they had seats open. I declined, but is there anyway around paying that much? I am part of there frequent flier club. Thanks in advance.

Get a doctors note for any reason.

or

Try calling calling the supervisor at Delta and explain your situation and explain that delta has room. Or make up a good reason why you cant fly

you should be able to be added to the standby list for the earlier flight at no cost. If there are many open seats this should be no problem. If you want a confirmed seat you will have to pay a service charge.
