I may as well get a plug in for my new temporary home in San Isidro (Perez Zeledon). A young gringo, Steve, is putting the finishing touches on a small apartment building in Barrio La Pradera, San Isidro. The five unit complex sets on top of a mountain just off of the road to Dominical (Hwy 273). It's a leisurely 20 minute walk to the center of town. If you´re not in shape when you arrive, I can guarantee, the walk up and down the hills will get you in shape before you leave.
Each unit is approximately 600 square feet, contains a full kitchen (electric range/oven, sink and half-size refrigerator, coffee maker and all utensils), single bedroom with twin-sized bed, full bath, living room with 21" TV and fan, private entrance and two patios with a fantastic view of Mt Chirippo and the Talamanca Mountains. The cost is $375 per month for a fully-furnished unit or $150 per week if renting for a shorter period. Unfurnished units are less expensive.
I have been very happy with my accommodations here. Presently, 3 of the 5 units are rented, the remaining two units are available on a "first come first serve" basis. I'm not sure how many CRT mongers travel to San Isidro for business or pleasure, but if you ever find yourself in the area for longer than a week, Apartamentos Pura Vida is a cost-effective way to go.
