FORGET LIBERIA! Nothing! Dead! (but they do have a Burger King in the center of town)!!! You're better off pounding your pud! Muff, Save yourself time and money for a recon mission. Not necessary.

That being said, I'm pretty sure that the airfare prices quoted are only One-Way, without taxes included. I think if you look at the fine print, it'll end up costing around $275 - $300 Round Trip, including taxes. If it is, in fact, $119 R/T including taxes, I'd jump all over it, and then make your secondary travel reservations, once you get to Liberia.

Bus from Liberia to SJO is cheap, but with the road conditions as they are, you can plan on a miserable 4 - 5 hour trip to/from the gulch. Like Orange said, you're better off taking Sansa or Nature Air from LIR to SJO. Only $85 - $90 each way, and it's only a 35-40 minute flight. If you need confirmation on travel conditions from SJO to Liberia, send a PM to Orange or Xman. They'll enlighten you. They just did the bus thing over the Memorial day weekend. It wasn't pretty!

There are a few local cantina's and bars in town, but I've never seen (or heard) of a P4P place in Liberia. If you want some Liberian pu$$y, you'll need to either bring your own, or bring your "A" game, and try to pick up a non-pro walking around town. I've been to Liberia no less than a dozen times, and it is not a town known for it's mongering possibilities. There's a couple bars (with chica's) about 30 minutes from Liberia, in a small beach town called Playa del Coco. But they only come out to play at night, and the selection is extremely limited. By the time you rent a car, or pay a taxi back and forth, you're better off flying to the gulch.

I have lived in Liberia. Theres a few bars . The one across from the Hotel El Sitio is called Kukur a disco with loud music. The locals get there around 11pm.You will see lots of bikes outside. Most girls live around there and are concerned they will be spotted by someone who knows them. There is a local massage place just out side heading to the airport direction. Most pros head to SJ on thursday and return via 4 hour bus ride on the Pulmitan late evening. Others from SJ come to playa Del Coco at the discos. If you dont speak spanish makes it tough to hook up and the girls are not as pretty as in SJ. I personally like the area the Howler monkeys near by the beach call playa panama and south playa grande. The area has changed so fast over the past few years.Crime is bad in Playa Coco watch your self with petty theivery. The cocaine has really taking hold of the locals. Thus causing more crime.

Liberia is not a mongering town. There are a couple small tico bars in town, but they are 'regular' bars, with local girls. Noone speaks English. If you've got some "game", you could try to pick up a Tica, but Liberia is not a P4P type of area. It's off the beaten track, and they don't get too many mongers.

Granted, there's an airport there, but that whole area is run by the 4-Seasons Papagayo Resort. They control the "politics" over there, as they've spent ten's of millions of dollars for the construction, maintenance, improvement and upkeep of the airport, roads and most infrastructure. And their "target" clientele is "upscale" families, couples, celebrities and eco-tourists. Just take a look at their "fleet" of NEW, hunter green suburbans when you fly into Liberia. At times, there'll be as many as 15 - 18 shiny new, identical green suburbans, waiting in the parking lot in the Liberia airport.

If you want to drive West, towards the coast, there's some P4P in Playas del Coco. But again, if you're looking for any type of quality and quantity, you're in the wrong part of the country.

You could drive South, to Flamingo or Tamarindo, and you'll have some options there, but once again, your choices are limited, and the drive is over an hour.
