Has anyone had any problem with traveling from the US to CR on a oneway ticket? I know technicallyaccording to CR immigration you are suppose to have a return or onward ticket . Spirit airlines said I could not board with a oneway ticket. I never have been asked to show evidence of a RT ticket in Philippines, Thailand,Hong Kong or Inodonesia. Anyone ever had a problem usinga oneway ticket? I only got one way because I not sure of my return date.

I'm pretty sure you will have to buy a RT ticket with a return date way into the future, and then you'll have to pay the $100 to change it, once you know it.

Even with the fee, it will cost less than 2 one-way tix.

Spirit is new serving CR so not a lot is known about their enforcement of the requirement that you have a ticket to depart CR.

Most airlines are lax in requesting proof but American has been reported, by many members here, of requesting proof. They asked me once and I had to show my cedula to satisfy them that I did not require a return ticket.

My understanding is you must show ability to purchase return ticket. i.e. have a credit card. One way is ok. They do not check at immigration for return date when you enter as far as I know.

One way for a non-resident is a no-no. I used to do it with USair, but had to stop it when they stopped going from Ft. Lauderdale.

If CR immigration request to see your return ticket, which rarely occurs, you are suppose to have a ticket not the ability to purchase one at a later date. You can be ordered out of the country. This is not unique to CR but is a requirement of many countries including the US.

On the website of the Costarican Immigration it says that you need an airplane ticket:
Quote:
Tiquete aéreo de regreso o de continuación de viaje con visa de ingreso al país a donde se dirija, en caso de que la requiera.
