Great news about the chica fees getting dumped. With the CRT discount and the tax applied, a standard room will be about $49/night.

I wonder if the various church groups will continue to hold retreats there now that La Amistad is one of us. Looking forward to the first review!

Good work, Admin 1!

I was there 3 years ago, nice quite area walk 1 street up to hospital and catch a cab. Cheap to stay with a good breakfeast. Only thing beside the fee i did not like was the room was a little small for me :) i,m a little wide

Just a note: On this, may if not all the rooms have been completely remodeled, stop by and check them out they will be happy to give you a tour, they are quite nice in this price range.

I stayed there. It is adequate but not exceptional in any way.

I have thought about my post yesterday and am printing this as a retraction of my comment about Amistad. When I stayed there, it was a while ago. Since then the management of Amistad worked hard to remodel rooms and to upgrade their facilities. They are moe chica friendly now than in the past. Their willingness to support CRT is also laudable. Amistad has a good location and is a short walk to SL, Castillo (Gardens Restaurant) BM, KL, NF and good ole ZB. So, if you have an experience there that is current, we'd like to read it.

I agree. I might put my newbie wingman up in this hotel for a couple nights during Memorial Day weekend, and I'd like to hear from someone who has "recently" stayed at La Amistad. Thanks, in advance.

I stayed there back in '99 and it was alright. I had a single standard room with private bath. The breakfast was mucho bueno. The hotel staff were very friendly and attended to my needs. The building is right next to the street so there is some outside noise. You will also here people walking around outside the door due to the noisy wooden floors. All in all I would rate it a 2.5 out of 5. If you are going to spend that kind of money on a hotel, I would recommend staying at the Presidente.

This review is from 1999 WTF, 8 yrs ago. There are NO wooden floors.
If you are going to post info please make sure it is accurate!

Smooth - this is matt the new owner of hotel amistad. while i understand that you stayed with us in 99 a few things have changed since then. One the owner :D, second we are undergoing a $500,000 renovation including new windows to cut out the street noise. We are upgrading all rooms and common areas. The staff is still the same ( i am sure they will appreciate the kind words) and we have upgraded the breakfast to be made to order during working hours (7am to 5 pm). We hope that you will give us another chance in the future (first couple of days will be on us) and that you will change your 2.5 to at least a 3  All comments are welcome (good and bad) as now is the time for Hotel Amistad to correct any problems it had in the past.

Matt,
I have not stopped into the 'new' La Amistad yet, but your comments here show that you're a class act. It's always good to see the owners of the various CR establishments working with our (CRT) best interest at heart. That means a lot, and your comments are appreciated. Just watch out for a certain CRT member, with the name HolaB. He's a cleptomaniac, and he'll steal all your towels. You've been warned!

After last weekend's festivities, I've talked to a few members who ALL had high marks for your hotel. I look forward to stopping in on my next trip, and seeing your place. And by the way, welcome to the board!

Matt - Congrats on taking ownership of the hotel! I was not aware of the recent changes taking place there. I am planning a trip for labor day weekend and would love to stop by to see the improvements. Will the upgrades be completed by then?
