Thespy: I'm on the Thursday flight also. We're going to Jaco to fish once we land. I'm travelling with another fisherman. I'm 5'8" salt and pepper hair. Gene is 6'1" with glasses. Maybe we can connect at the gate. Bill (cateye) |

Let me know. Greg I've flown with Spirit one time when I went to Santo Domingo from Lauderdale last year. Their planes are fine (although the one we flew on seemed older), the overhead bins were spacious, leather seats throughout, and it flew at the same speed as any other jet (took less than 2 hours to get to Dominican Republic). Both flights of the roundtrip were very smoothe. Check-in, however, was a pain in the ass. At the time (I'm guessing nothing has changed), Spirit had no indoor ticket counter. So a makeshift check-in area was set up along the sidewalk and we had to wait in line for nearly 45 minutes outdoors in 80 degree heat. Not fun. So be prepared for that if you've yet to fly Spirit out of Lauderdale. |

I flew out of Ft. Lauderdale on Monday using Spirit. The ticket counter was inside but wasn't the smoothest. It wasn't a problem either just about a twenty minute shuffle. My plane was an Airbus 319. I got a good price |

Info, FYI, ticket counter to san jose all the way to the right, check in no problem with carry on, security line a mess but went fast, there is little food past security and only one bath room, small waiting area and 10 gates, flight leaves from H10 or H9. Good wireless internet and its free, I should be at the del rey in about 3 hours. Still no sign of Cateye. |

Spirit is very much like Taca. Their only great once the doors close. Pray you don't have a flight delay or luggage issue. The main difference is that if you get a problem on Taca, they can help you better with flight delays or cancellations.(many flights) If you have an issue with Spirit, at least they have USA level customer service. ( They don't hang up if you ask for a supervisor, they wouldn't make you come back to the airport to pick up lost luggage, etc) |

More Info. 45 min delay due to weather and reverse traffic pattern, departed from runway 27R FLL , flight time 2 hours and 37 mins, food costs extra, $2 bucks, credit card only no cash, there are only 2 bathrooms on the plane so if you sit up front, #1 or #2, or #3 your going to have people standing next to you waiting for the bathroom. Our approch to runway 17 in SJO was great until we got instructions to circle to land, at 600 foot min, and cloulds about 2 miles from the airport that had people on the plane asking whats up with that, the captain sent out the first officer to field the questions, however the crew did a great job on the flight, so no compliants. No gate just the stairway and no bus to terminal. Heading out tonight to some tico bars but will be back in the Del Rey Fri for the 2Pm shift. |

I think I figured our what the problem was. They tried to land on Runway 17, but they were 10 degrees off. It's Runway 07. |

The two usable runways are 07 and 25.
