I did - loved the location - so-so wirless (had to hold the laptop over the television), hated the room.

Small, tiny windows, bad lighting, no breakfast. My room was one of the interior rooms on the 3rd floor but I suspect they may have nicer rooms elsewhere.

Any observations/recent experiences?

I just returned from 6 days at Morazon. Stayed in 416 had a nice time. Our plane had to make a landing in Ft. Myers for an emergency . Got to C.R. late had my room very clean . If you think about it , it is an older Hotel maybe something odd will pop up but overall liked it . The Cafe Mundo was great and Julian at the Colonial who plays the best Piano he is there Sun- Wed. ,Jr Ribs for my amiga and her family. I brought down some pictures for framing really cheap. I ordered some eye glasses next door to Morazon nice eye doc. Life is good . Jose is the manager at Morazon nice guy A-1 . Something odd , A rude American wraps his head in toilet paper and stands in the hall naked with a towel in front of him and says to the maid this is for you. I hope he is not on this board . Please Lets all act like Gentleman to make ourselves and our Country look its best. Rude or mean people suck. I vote for Ohio State to win final four and will be there in Atlanta for the games. Keep your head high and your thoughts positive. God Bless you all. H

It's been a while since I stayed at the Morazan. What are they getting for a standard room, now ?

Thanks,

Had two friends who stayed at the Morazan for 12 days in January. They both were very satisfied and are planning to stay there again when they return in July.

They used the coupon in the Tico Times so they average cost was $40.00 per night including tax. Given it's location I think it is the best deal, in the gulch, at this time.

I know my friends did not pay a chica fee but there are conflicting reports posted on the hotels policy. I get the impression that if they think they can charge you they will try but if you complain about it they will let it go.

ID,

Thanks, for the update. $40.00 a night is better than the $42 I paid 2 years ago!

I agree with you, given its proximity to the action...and for us world travelers on a budget...price, the Morazan is very good value.

I have seen the posted $5 chica fee, but never had it applied to any of my hotel bills.

Hotel Neuvo Johnson is only $10 bucks a night. If you are on a budget I would highly recommend booking your room here. With all the money you save you can do a couple extra chicas.

You can't beat the price!

Was just at the Morazan about two weeks ago. I like the hotel. It is close to the Del Rey, they do not charge for girls in the room. It is not the Ritz but I have found the staff to be very friendly. Ask for Ricardo he is a good guy and he'll take good care of you. Stayed in room 300 on my last trip and found it to be a nice room. It is tucked into a corner and it is brand new...spacious, nice shower, good size bed.

Morazan has some large exterior standard rooms and some small interior standard rooms for the same rate. The last two times I checked in there, they put me in a little claustrophobic interior room the first night. The next morning, I told them I was leaving if they couldn’t do better, and they moved me to a large exterior room next to the sports book on the second floor (room 201 as I recall) for the same price.

We used to have a CRT friend managing there, named Alonzo. He would charge $40 with no chica fees and a free safe. After they fired Alonzo, I stayed there a couple of times and some managers would agree to waive the chica fee when they were on duty, while others would not—but that was a couple of years ago.

The last time I telephoned to book there, they told me I must fax a photocopy of both sides of my credit card. I was not comfortable with a hardcopy of my card in their files, so I did not do it and have not stayed there since. Has anyone been asked to fax a credit card photocopy lately?
