Post subject:  AA special offer MIA - SJO

I just booked my flight with AA leaving MIA on May 2nd and coming back on May 9th for USD 266.90 (TAXES INCLUDED)

This is for sure the best price I have ever paid. I did it directly through the AA web page........ This offer is valid only for their flight AA971 leaving at 10.05 am from MIA and back AA 972 leaving at 2.30PM from SJO. If you try other flights, your price will be in the range of USD 360.00 or more!!!!

Hurry guys, there isn't any indication for how long this offer will be available.

Pura Vida!!

OK, purchased my ticket on AA from MIA to SJO on March 16, travel dates 4/27 - 5/2 and paid $337.90. Noticed the new fair here on this thread and called AA. They refunded me the $71 difference from the new fare of $266.90. That's good customer service. Ummm...already have something in mind to spend that extra 71 bucks on!

Post subject:  How are you learning of lower cost flights

Guys, how are you learning of these lower rates on their web sites other than simply using the booking tools to check flights and fares? I would like to learn of these fares as they lower in order to take advantage of them, so if a notice is posted somewhere or if they will notify you of such changes, I would like to know that. I am hoping that it is something simpler than using the pricing tools for flights. Thanks

To get a credit refund the flight has to be same dates and schedule. I just check fares for my booked flight fairly often in hope or reduction. A lot of AA flight sales have no notice and often may last only from a few hours to a day or two.rbc100

That credit refund when a flight drops in price...... Does anyone know......is that the policy with most airlines? It just happened to me with USAIRWAYS.

I don't know how I missed it orginally but on AA if you are a Frequent Flyer you can set up your Favorite fare watches from Point A to Point B... when you logon to the web site it will show you on the left hand side your favorites along with the lowest available current fare.

They often do not send email notifications to this effect so checking the AA web site every few days is a good idea. AA is famous for these little fast fares this is a great tool.

Also AA always if flights and dates are the same refund the difference to you!

Your not kidding when you say little hidden fares. Was checking AA the other day have Mia to GIG in my favorites... Had a fare of 545.00 MIA TO RIO (GiG)... I had already used miles for the November trip but I knew Johnnie Black was shopping a cheap ticket.

Called him up he booked his Rio Flights exactly to match mine for $632.00 including all taxes for November... Sure enough we called everyone on the prosepctive Rio run and the fare had gone back to 888.00 plus taxes right after he booked.. Sometimes a little luck helps.. Way to go JB.. see you in GIG!

This is true most times but I have MIA-SJO saved on AA's site and that $266.90 flight doesn't show up there. Guess it's always good to check yourself...and watch this board!

Is there a trick to getting a refund of the difference after an airfare price drop?

My friend puchased a ticket with AMERICAN AIRLINES for a June trip. The price went down $45. He called the airline asking for a refund and was told.......NO CAN DO. :(

Bob8053,
Great find!

Back in December, I had booked a "spur-of-the-moment" trip, about 10 days in advance. And since I had used up all my frequent flyer miles for the calendar year '06, I had to pay for the flights. Then, something came up last minute, so I cancelled that trip.

At that particular time, I had already booked my first few trips of '07, so I looked ahead, and I ended up using those tickets for the Labor Day 2007 trip. After seeing this post, I looked at my Labor Day weekend flights, and compared current prices for the exact same flights. I called AA this morning, and they are going to credit my AA Mastercard $251.

Thanks again Bob8053. Without this thread, I probably would've never checked. I owe ya one! Now THIS is what CRT is all about!

Make sure that they are the exact same flights and they should give your friend credit.
