Post subject: | Playing it by ear? |
Greetings. I'm planning a trip to CR from March 19 - 29, my second visit. I'm going to stay in San Jose upon arrival, but I would like to play the rest of my trip by ear (and possibly other body parts). I probably want to visit some of the areas I didn't see last time (the Pacific side of the country), but I don't want to commit to booking hotel rooms for specific days before I leave home. I know this is still high season and some of the heavily trafficked tourism spots on the Nicoya Pennisula, etc, could be booked up. Here's my question:is it reasonable to expect I can find some decent place to stay on short notice in most areas? I am not real high maintenance when it comes to my hotel room. As long as it's clean and secure, I'm fine. I don't want to spend $80 - $100 on a room, but I don't want to stay in a dive, either. What say you, oh men of Troy? I mean, CRT? Thanks. |

It seems to me that most parts of Costa Rica have some kind of backpacker hotel or lodge that always has room even if they have you sleeping on the couch in the lobby. On thing that is nice about CR is that it ain't like you are going to die of exposure if you end up sleeping in a car or on the beach. Hope that helps, ![]() |

All else fails you always have the hostels to fall back on. The only draw back is you might have to share a bathroom. I don't think you should have any porblem finding a decent room unless you arrive during a holiday. |
