Has anybody noticed the airfares for August?

$630 JFK-SJO on Taca.

They have gone insane!!!!

Obviously, it will drop as it gets closer and the planes are empty.

Last month the fares were down for Aug to CR. I snuck in a $330 Rt-w/tax from LAX from Spirit Air. Maybe it's the fuel cost increase???

Nice. You're all set. All you need now is a landing permit. :P

USAIRWAYS.......WASH/DULLES to SJO in June........$650.00.

I just paid $430.00 for trip in January [last month].

I'm going to wait another month to see if they come down. :?

Interesting.......When I left San Jose to return home on February 8th, there were so few people on the plane, that before take off, they had to spread us out throughout the plane to compensate for the proper weight and balance before take off. This is the first time I've ever experienced this.......and keep in mind, this was the "high season." :? That had to be a MONEY LOSING FLIGHT.

If you can get a cheap flight to Miami, AA is running a special from Miami to SJO for less than $300 round trip, but the flight(s) and times are limited.

Besides the "hanging chads" and the Anna Nicole Smith debachle, sometimes it's good to live in Florida! :o

Yeap - running the numbers on Taca these days is very disheartening. Everything's up over $600 from LA starting in May and running through the rest of the year. What the hell happened? Back in September/October of 2005, I was able to EASILY get fares in the low $300's with very little advance purchase time.

As expensive as it is to travel there now, hell, you might as well just pull up shop and move.

Now, the further out you book, the MORE you end up paying.
