Has anyone stayed in the Spa Room on the third floor? I booked it for a close friend who is coming for the first time. I want him to have something nice, and this was the only one available. Is it quiet? has it been re done? He is coming from the 7th to the 11th of March. If anyone is cancelling anything better, please let me know.

Well I can come close. I have stayed to the HDR, the SL, and have toured the rooms at ZB. The last time I was in town I stayed part time at the SL in their new section in the only regular room with a jacuzzi, then moved the next nite to the Presedente to a spa room on the fifth floor. I love the SL, but the spa room at the Presedente to me is the best room I have had in all of SJ and I will be back there tomorrow nite. I have not seen the third floor rooms, but if they are the same as the fifth floor they are an outstanding deal with the CRT discount, they are at least twice the size of the SL rooms, comparable to the ZB rooms, with a nice sitting/TV area, but with higher quality furnishings such as marble all over the huge bath/spa area. The only physical feature that I found that was missing was a hand sprayer in the jacuzzi with I have great fun with entertaining my novia por la hora. You might ask about the the similarity of the third and fifth floor rooms and if you get a good response, go for it, you won't be disapointed.

I stayed in 803 which is a spa room. Real quite and real nice. I would suggest it without a doubt. The chicas loved the big jacuzzi and I think it was only about 90 a night.

The spa rooms are great. have all been remodeled with a very large bed and obviosly the huge spa. Their kind of off the main drag of the hallway which makes it very quiet.

I stopped in at the Presidente yesterday to check on my Spa Room reservation for my friend. Maria was manning the desk yesterday instead of the chica Wendy who made my original reservation. WELL THANK GOD Maria was there. Wendy had TOTALLY screwed up the reservation. Instead of a spa room he was in a Jr suite.Instead of room 303,it was 302 which Maria said could be a little noisy since it was over the casino. Wendy also screwed up the dates booking him in on the 3rd instead of the 7th. I wonder what would have happened when he doesn't show up on the 3rd and my credit card is securing the room. Well, fortunately I stopped by and caught Maria at the desk. She changed the reservation and moved him to a Jr suite on the 6th floor and wait-listed him for a Spa Room. The moral of the story...try not to deal with Wendy when making your reservations. If you have to (which will probably be the case since Maria has moved to another position) check and double check what she has done so you won't have any surprises.

Bob,

As you know, I won a 2 night spa room stay at the 2005 Anniversary Party.

I too was in 803.

PROS:

Queen bed: The best I've slept in/screwed in in San Jose.

2 televisions, one in the living room area and a smaller one in the bedroom.

2 separate A/C units.

Spacious.

Quiet, despite acoustically "hard" surfaces throughout.

CONS:

I hate the lighting and color scheme. Under the harsh flourescent lighting, the wall appears a sicky mustard yellow/green. Sort of the color of baby poop.

Spa can be dangerous. Entering/leaving the tub can be treacherous, especially if one is a little drunk.

803 is right over the News Cafe kitchen, and dispite its elevation, one can smell fryer grease if the windows are open.

At the discounted rate, the room goes for around a hundred bucks per night including taxes and breakfast buffet. These suites are a wonderful value.

801 is Pretty much same as 803 except burnt orange is the primary colour. Also the balcony faces the southern mountains which make for a nice view for while being serviced.

quick aside; the grand master suite is right over kfc which can get old real fast with the smell.
