In your opinion, is the larger room worth the extra money? Last time I stayed in an :economy queen" room...$59. Not a bad deal but I'm thinking of popping for nicer digs next time. Advice?

Niko:

Take the suite your next trip it has a number of advantages. It is a much better furnished and larger room than your economy. Has a terrific view of the city. Your lady friends will think you're a wealthy man and be reluctant to let you go. And taking the suite has one other advantage you will know what it's like so you can quit wondering about it.

On a slightly related note the best room I have ever seen in San Jose is the Penthouse at Sportsman Lodge. Getting back to the original topic I find the best value in a room at the Del Rey is a deluxe single.

Post subject:  Best Room for the Money

I was in town last weekend and got a deluxe single at the Del Rey. It cost me $93 out the door plus a few upgrades. The room was on the 6th floor and was excellent. It didn't have a view but it was quiet and the elevator dropped me down to the action immediately. I stayed at the penthouse suite at the Sportsman a while back and it is impressive. I would stay there if I had a girlfriend but not if I was on the prowl. Many times I get the urge in the middle of the night or early morning so the SL is too far to travel in your pajamas. The Del Rey is fast. You should try the Suite once and then decide. Thats a good idea. Sort of like me trying a Columbiano and then knowing they watch the clock and just lie there.
