I've stayed at the Holiday Inn probably 90% of my trips to C.R. but I've been thinking about trying the Amon Plaza on my next trip.

I would appreciate all reviews/feedback on the Amon Plaza (rooms, cleanliness, amenities, etc.), especially from anyone who has also stayed at the Holiday Inn and can offer a direct comparison.

Also, how far is the Amon Plaza from the HDR? I think I've walked by the place in the past, but I can't recall exactly where I saw it. (Is the Amon Plaza walking distance from the HDR like the Holiday Inn?)

Thanks very much.

Jack,

Though I have not stayed @ Holiday Inn, I have twice @ Amon Plaza.
Rooms were clean, brkf is inclusive and above avg(omlettes to order, fruit, pasties etc) and no problem w/girls visiting. Just check in @ the desk.

As a CRT VIP, the rate is a fair value. Must book through Nixon, in the casino.

I highly recommend the amon. Like USA rooms, food is good, service very good, a casino on the ground floor for blackjack, nixon, your host, is cool and will help you out. One short block to zona blue for big fun. Delray is walking distance BUT whatever you do DO NOT walk it at night. I got attacked by trannies on the way home one night at 9pm. Just one block from Amon the whole area is trannies at night and dangerous. take a cab. Bat.

I stayed there over Thanksgiving weekend.

The rooms are great. The only problem was the bedsheet. It wasn't fitted to the bed, so it kept sliding off. The TV didn't work, but they sent a guy up right away and he fixed the cables. It's quiet, but then again a bomb couldn't wake me, so maybe it's loud, who knows.

The included breakfast is very good. I don't remember exactly what they offered, but includes an omelette station, Tico rice and beans, fresh fruit, and coffee and various fresh juices.

The casino downstairs isn't the liveliest casino I've seen, but it's cool for blackjack (real blackjack), craps, and low limit slots/video poker.

Book thru Nixon (paradisorooms@hotmail.com) to get the CRT VIP discount and no "guest" fee. Standard rooms are ~$70/night, and they are very big.

Amon is good in every respect...............However, do NOT ever, EVER, make your reservation via their website 800 number. I will be politically correct and not say what I would like to, but, to say the least, this 800 number connects you with a mid-eastern broker, who claims to be the Amon Plaza. You will be over charged, to say the least.

Sometimes technology is not good.

Great place to stay... Nixon in the casino is very helpful and will book a room for you and give the VIP discount...
When you are quoted a price in dollars, pay your bill in dollars or else your exchange rate will be horrible (as it is with any hotel)...

I'm staying at the Amon right now, it sure is a nice place, I like how the bathrooms are laid out much like US hotels. I'm in a Jr. suite with two beds. The rooms are long and skinny, but it works. AC is very nice and quiet, on low it's barely noticeable. No noisy unit, just a wall control.

One thing though, the hotel doesn't allow more than one chica "guest" in a room at one time. I had assumed that they did since I have seen no mention of it here, but found out the hard way on the 1st. Turned something promising into a downer. I had my Tica regular coming over that night and that more than made up for it. No dress code for the chicas at least.

The breakfast buffet is good, there is the egg guy, and other options like mini-pancakes. The dinner menu though is disappointing, limited selections and those are mostly quite pricey. Having no other restaurants a block or two away is also a downer.

The quiet is also really nice. :D

Need to get out and start hiking Tom  There are restaurants all over near the hotel. Dunn's Inn, JR Ribs, Soda Peru, Bakea, etc. for starters.

I was there last November and I loved the place. I reserved through Nixon and it worked great (DON"T RESERVE THROUGH THE INTERNET OR DESK - CALL NIXON). I had a Jr. Suite with a King bed. The room was very nice, clean and the hotel is located in a very quiet area. The people at the hotel were very nice and service was good. Since I had some business, I met some client at the hotel and it was perfect and people liked the place and its terrace.... After my meetings, a short walk and I was immediately in the gulch area...... I will for sure be there again in my next trip to CR.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for that price and most important....no chica fees!!!!

Pura Vida!!!!!!!!!!
