A friend of mine recommended me to this cheap hotel near hotel del rey ,where he spent a month last summer. It is Pension de la Cuesta located at Av 1 Calle 11 y 15. It is only one block and half from hotel del rey. I spent the last week of January there, they have free internet and wireless connection inside the hotel. The single room was $18 with breakfast included, but they did charge me $10 for bringing company from el rey. Anyway the location of the hotel is really convinience it is also close to NF, ZN,VIps and the other massage places. Its a good place to stay while you want to save up some money to explore more massage places. Here is their website and number www.pensiondelacuesta.com 256-7946 |

I have walked by there many times and always wondered about it. It looks a little rough from the outside but I guess that could be misleading. How are the rooms, beds etc? I was thinking if I was on a tight budget I would rather stay in that neighborhood than in the central market area. It is relatively mellow location and very near the police station they are remodeling. |

Their rooms are alright, very basic but clean, but they also offer a apartment type room which includes kitchen, TV, and bathroom for $28 or $38 I am not that sure. |

I stopped in here the other day. With all of the hotel reports on the board lately I thought I’d comment: I, - don’t think Ruffnuts would like it. I only saw one room, I would sleep there if I had to, it is pretty backpacker hostel like. A couple beautiful Swiss looking girls working at the computer… It is a great location - as close as the Presidente, a block and a half due east of DR. Safe neighborhood across the street from the Elections building. I would take a look at it before putting too much deposit down. Yeah $18/night share the bathroom. Who knows? Might be fun… Looks like a couple guys at least like it eh? Total of their posts are about the place. |

I saw this place on craigslist offering $290 for month (single room), so I checked it out at my last week in Costa Rica before I headed home. It is more a budget accommodation but at the same time it is a really neat and provides good service. The owner and his staff were pretty helpful , took their advice and went to a Arenal & Monteverde tour package and had a great time! I will definitely stay there at my next trip to CR when I am in town. It is just 150m east from Hotel del rey at Avenida 1 . |

I talked to them. They have a chica fee on top of your room fee. If the girl is there 10 minutes you pay $10 chica fee every time you bring a girl, I think. Then, if you have a single or double room your girl still has to shower outside in the public bathrooms. Imagine if there are a bunch of people using the bathrooms or showers when you bring your girl in? I don't know, could be strange. Unless your chicas are very "girl next door" looking this is going to be an odd place to bring hookers and surely if you walk in buzzed from HDR with one and she's clanking the high heels and you have that confident, self satisfied "I'm about to get laid by a hooker" look on your noisy, smiling face you'll look a little silly. For $10 more you can just stay at a place like Castillo with no chica fee. I will give it a look but most likely only if I can't stay at a proven monger friendly hotel. |

I just checked that place last Saturday, $18 for single room and $25 for apartment with bath, tv, kitchen (tax and breakfast incluided) They also have some rooms with bath and about 5-6 shared bath. I talked to the front desk guy about chica fee and he told me that if the chica stays overnight then I have to pay$10 if not it's free. Anyway, the place is neat but nothing fancy, but the location is their advantage, probably will stay 1 or 2 nights there for the next trip. There is a massage place 2 chicas for 17k, La mansion, great experience! |
