Does anyone know how far this hotel is in relation to Zone Blue? Or the Del Rey Hotel? Thanks.

BW San Jose is about 4-1/2 blocks west of Zona Blue and er.... wait a minute. I'll just check the Search function using the terms "Best Western location" in the Search box. Be back in a sec.

Okay, I'm back. The Best Western is 5-1/2 blocks west of Zona Blue and another 3 blocks to c. 9 and south 3 blocks to the del Rey.

Chica friendly: Most reports say yes.
Stay safe. The hotel is in a dodgy part of downtown. Even frequent visitors to San Jose and ex-patriates who live there take cabs at night, even for short runs This is true even if you're as close to the del Rey as the Hotel Presidente (one block) or the Sportsmen's Lodge (about five -?- blocks).

Hope this helps! :D So, when are you coming to Paradise? :?:

So easy, even a blind man can do it..

The area is notoriously a Dominican area of town, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending how you look at it. I personally had no troubles walking around there at night, went to a few local bars, talked to some chicas with the help of a local buddy, and checked out Club Monaco which is really close to the hotel.

Overall, youd be OK walking it during the day time, but I think you would be smart to take a cab at night unless you werent going very far at all. You likely wont get shot at as you walk out your hotel front door, but everything past that is questionable

I stayed at this hotel twice about two weeks ago. It's a really nice hotel with good service including a free ride to the airport. I took cabs to the Del Rey and massage parlors at night. I felt very safe waiting for cabs outside. Sure there were a lot of Dominicans around the area. However, I'm from Chicago and inner-city areas do not scare me. Just have a little street smarts to you and don't flash money or expensive jewelry. Personally, the area around the Presidente looks risky at night after the News Cafe closes. I usually take cabs everywhere after dark. It's like two dollars at most!

Enjoy this hotel!

The local Colombiano hang out is one block down the street from the Best Western.

I wrote a review on this hotel last year.

I stayed in the inside rooms (poolside) both times and found them to be very quiet. The elevator is truly a little slow. The only issue I had was when there was this gringo guy accidentally knocking on my door at 4AM. He was looking for his religious retreat group. I think he had to much to drink that night.

Again, you should not walk anywhere in San Jose at night especially after drinking. I think that some people are scared when they see a large group of black people hanging out at night. I don't think that they are anymore dangerous than the street ticos that hustle near the Presidente Hotel late at night.

I feel that the service is great. After arriving at the airport via the hotel shuttle, I discovered that I had left my newly purchased Blue Marlin Bar baseball cap in the van. They sent the driver all the way back to return it to me.

This guy scared the shit out of me! I thought he was trying to break into my room. That should only happen in Tijuana.
