Have flown it many times. Last time 6:30 hours late the time before 3 hours late . I t comes from Amsterdam and is not usually on time. First class is a steal. Customs in Orlando usually takes over an hour to get your baggage. Other than that I love the flight.I called no flights available till middle of March.Call early to get the $400 rate

Martinair use to be my favorite passage to CR but they have changed times and are not flying out of Orlando until late in the afternoon or evening. Last one I took (late again) it was about midnight when I cleared customs and 12:30 PM when I arrived at the hotel. Flying out of Miami may be a bit better. The previous post was correct in that Martinair is habitually late. They use to have a larger carrier but have scaled down to a smaller plane. Also, before a year ago it use to be easy to get a $50. upgrade to Star class but now those seats are already ticketed or taken fast.

What really pisses me off was up until about two years ago Star, business or (first class) passengers could use the Crown room (free booze, snacks and you could sneak a smoke) in Orlando which was great but the Birts closed it.

I will say this. Martinair has to have some of the most homely (but tall) flight attentants with yucko uniforms. Don't even ask me about the "male" ones......can we say light in the loafers?

Still, the overall service beats AA or Delta in my opinion. Just don't expect your flight to be on time.

If you can buy a ticket on AA, I would pay the few dollars extra. I like Martin Air but I am not willing to take a chance to be many hours or a day late on a 4 day trip. 8 hours stranded on one Martin Air flight from SJO-MIA. If you are taking a short trip, I would pass, if the AA plane breaks, they bring in another one in an hour or so.

Ok, thanks for all the input, I have opted for the AA flight thru Miami, a little more money, but a lot more freedom of choice. Now all I have to do is decide on a Hotel. The Presidiente looks good as I will want to get some sleep. but The Marazon and the SL also look good.
