I do not understand how they decided who qualified for the promotion I took advantage of it but many of our members did not get the email.

As has been posted elsewhere, Taca has a 2-for-1 mileage purchase special going on right now (actually ending tomorrow). This worked out great for me - I was able to buy 4,000 miles for $50 - just enough to put me over the 35,000 threshold after my next trip to CR over Super Bowl weekend. Mileage awards are set up a little differently now as well - they've divided the year into "high" and "low" seasons. Low season is the following: February through May, and September and October. During low season you can fly anywhere to Central America for 30,000 miles, and anywhere to South America (including Bogota, Sao Paolo & Buenos Aires) for 35,000 miles. 5,000 more miles are required for all locations during high season. Note that none of the South American destinations are direct flights - all Colombia flights for instance route through San Jose. Bottom line is I'm looking at a combined CR/Colombia trip around Memorial Day for total airfare of less than $200 (including tax on the mileage award, the miles purchased today, and connecting Avianca flight from Bogota to Medellin or wherever) - pretty cool! |
